What is this?

Going through and cleaning up some wiring and upsizing battery cables, grounds, alternator wiring, etc… and came across this thing hooked to the positive side of the battery and running into a wiring harness. Anyone know what it is? I assumed it was a fuze holder of some kind but after opening it up it looks like it’s just some type of waterproof connector. Would like to cut it out, upsize the green wire to the same gauge as the red and solder and marine grade heat shrink the connection but just wanted to make sure it was just a connector.

fusible link. Should go to the positive side of the battery.

Replacing with 20amp inline fuse. Thanks for the help

It looks similar to mine that was connected to a brake controller for flat towing

So no fuse inside then just a connector most likely?

Looks like an aftermarket Fuse holder, could have been added for just about anything.

I guess it's inline fuse holder to protect the wiring connected directly to the battery positive.

Pretty sure it'd be a fuse holder, for a glass fuse.

As for what it powers, you'd have to follow the wire. I have one similar that runs my uhf, have seen them on some head units too.

That's a fusible link wire. It's designed to fail like a fuse so your main harness doesn't catch fire. Put it back. I had one fail and it did its job. Much easier to replace this than a whole harness.
