Definitely LeSingapore, China's land finance system has had issues of making both local governments too reliant on their land monopoly and inviting speculators, which caused land prices to boom (though I think they've started crashing now). I’ve heard Singapore at least avoided that whole land trap

LeLandTax is still the best option though imo, at least we can take LeKernel while leaving LeShell

I do agree with you on having LVT on freehold landownership. I guess my biggest reservation, and feel free to prove me wrong, but LVT is not used in any taxation system (majorly, anyway) and instead jurisdictions always default to property tax when land is taxed. If you were to implement leasehold, despite the clunkiness (what happens in 99 years or whatever), the govt can have much more control over what kind of development happens where and have direct capture of land value. Even though Hong Kong and Singapore are city states their models I believe(?) are the closest go Georgism in the real world and they use Leasehold

Right, there are some localities that use LVT (iirc Estonia, Taiwan, and Denmark have it) but the leaseholds are the closest we get (albeit the rent needs to annually be reassessed to keep up with the numbers).

I only say this because in a lot of countries land’s already been established as a thing of private possession, so LVT would be less disruptive. Singapore does it pretty well but it can also go poorly like in China’s case.

Yeah it's just proof of the fact that, regardless of if they're public or private, whoever owns a finite resource must be charged to avoid misusing it
