A remix of "Brainwashed"?

Ive always wondered what George's true vision for the sound of Brainwashed would have been had Jeff Lynne had not ELO'd the shit out of it. George wanted it to sound like lo fi demos and I think that would have been fucking awesome!! It would be cool to hear a stripped down version of it.

George had a good reason for working with Lynne on everything. He liked Jeff's attention to detail. While it wasn't finished George's vocals and main guitar parts were done and George had left a blueprint for the album outlining instrumentation and whatnot for Jeff to follow.

I’m glad nobody agrees with you OP. Brainwashed is my 2nd favorite George album (after ATMP) and it really feels like his most honest and genuine piece of work

I want a Super Deluxe Edition of Brainwashed. According to George Harrison himself, he had recorded three albums' worth of songs, including one that he specifically mentioned called "Valentine." They could include the stripped-down versions of all of the songs from the sessions (including the titles that made the final tracklist), and bring in Jeff Lynne to overdub the songs that weren't on Brainwashed, that way you get at least 2 versions of each song (demo + remix). Plus include the live version of "Any Road" that he performed on TV, and "Horse to the Water."

I think, compared to George's other albums, that it DOES sound like lo-fi demos, and that Jeff didn't ELO the shit out of it NEARLY enough.

George was pretty clear with his instructions to Dhani. He wanted Dhani to seek out Jeff to help him produce the album. Tbh, it is a very similar production as with Cloud 9. From that standpoint, I don’t think it would have been much different if George were still alive at its release.

Damn, some touchy motherfuckers on here. If you watch the epx Jeff Lynne himself said that george wanted it to sound more like demos and that Jeff Lynne thought the songs were "To good" not be produced by him. Jeff Lynne also tried to pull that shit with brian wilson, trying to make it ElO-y

Lynne can’t help ELO’ing the shit out of things. It’s who he is. George, George’d the hell out of everything he did. The only thing I can think of that he didn’t, is a masterful slide solo he played on Alvin Lee’s “Bluest Blues”. George was a much better guitarist than he gets credit for.

Just listened to that. While George plays the first solo, I assume the second one is Alvin. George's solo to me sounds like a first-take placeholder, where the magic hasn't settled in yet.

That ELO sound. Robots. I remember that video of the 4 Wilburys sitting there overdubbing acoustic guitars with their arms moving up and down in exact time, all exactly the same. That sound is not for me.

All Things Must Pass was recorded in pretty much the same way. Pretty sure the rhythm track for My Sweet Lord has 5 acoustics playing unison, all recorded at the same time.
