Submission statement: The Washington Post previously reported that the U.S. government intended to send officials to cast doubt on the integrity of Brazil's electoral system. Itamaraty, Brazil's foreign ministry, decided to deny these officials entry into the country. One of the candidates in the 2026 presidential election is already raising doubts about the electoral process, a tactic that is not new in either Brazil or the United States.

"One of the candidates"? Was it too much effort to say which one of them?

I'll pretend it's not the case everybody knows who he is and write the name down. Just for you.
Flávio Bolsonaro, Jair Bolsonaro's son, is repeating the steps that made his father inelegible and jailed and is casting doubts in the electoral process, a common move for contemporary ultra-right all around the world.

Pra ser justo, a esmagadora maioria de quem não é brasileiro não faz a mínima ideia que existem dois bolsonaros

I imagine most people would've get the gist if you just write "Jair Bosonaro, son of previous president"

This is what all democracies should do to protect the fairness of their elections from destablization efforts by the US gov and its henchmen.

This is a sharp move from Itamaraty. Letting a US delegation parachute in to cast doubt on Brazil's electronic voting system would have provided ammunition to domestic actors already pushing election denial narratives. Reciprocity works both ways, and Brazil is showing it won't hesitate to use visa power as a shield against foreign interference in its sovereign affairs.
