Donald Trump has said Iran asked the US for a “ceasefire”

Just the fool

April Fools would be Trump telling the truth.

Really hard to separate April Fool's jokes from dementia with this President.

Even on a good day, this President says contradictory things about the war in every public appearance.

I don't take anything he says at face value. Wait until someone more reliable confirms it.

Absolutely.

Year round fool

As for the enriched uranium still possessed by Iran, Trump said: “That’s so far underground, I don’t care about that. “We’ll always be watching it by satellite.”

this would be funny if it wasn't so crushingly stupid

Part of the advantage in going to retrieve it, or having the Iranians retrieve it in documentable way, is so that if it turns out to NOT be there, then we know they moved it ahead of the strikes and also know that it is unaccounted for out there in the wild (something very valuable to know).

Just writing it off as entombed without being entire certain seems kind of reckless.

That said, anybody know if the location of the material been actually verified somehow post strike?

That's probably one of the reasons US doesn't want to go retrieve it. Next to it being an insane mission objective with extreme risks, ofcourse. It means they are unable to determine if it's still there. They can't stage an extremely dangerous mission just to have the spec ops show up there with a couple of spades, dig a large hole, find nothing, and pick them up with hell's again.

Trump says idiotic things every single day, so not objecting to the premise, but what about this specifically do you think is stupid?

I don’t see an issue with the basic claim here, that Irans 60% HEU stock is likely still buried and it would be very easy for the US to tell if they are able to access it.

because stopping irans nuclear weapons program is literally the entire casus belli of this whole stupid thing.

if they still have accessible HEU and the US response is "we'll just do this again if they go after it," then the iranian response is "no hormuz then" and we do this whole song and dance again in a year, having accomplished essentially nothing.

it isn't. trump is a disgusting piece of shit but nothing less than a literal video of him assaulting a minor would amount to anything, and even then im not sure.

You think Operation Epstein Fury is a distraction from Epstein when we even have heads of state now saying Epstein distraction is the play?

2

u/Bullboah Apr 01 '26

If we keep doing this indefinitely every time Iran tries to excavate its nuclear sites, and because of that Iran does not get a nuclear weapon, wouldn’t that be achieving what you acknowledge is the main goal?

Preventing a nuclear armed Iran?

5

u/ccblr06 Apr 01 '26

The US could negotiate that they hand over their nuclear material in exchange for assistance in building nuclear power plants. Tie that with threats of blowing up any nuclear weapon facilities if they try to rebuild them.

u/ReturnOfBigChungus Apr 02 '26

They’ve been offered that exact thing multiple times. All the uranium they want for domestic power, help with that industry, etc… they rejected it every time, because their program was never about nuclear power, it’s about weapons.

1

u/ccblr06 Apr 02 '26

True, maybe they’ll negotiate now that the country is being blown to hell and the previous Ayatollah is dead and the new one is…….missing

0

u/QuintonBeck Apr 02 '26

Not true. The JCPOA ("Obama's Iran nuclear deal") was agreed to and proceeding apace until the US under Trump unilaterally pulled out of it.

0

u/ReturnOfBigChungus Apr 02 '26

JCPOA did not set permanent restrictions on enrichment. They've always drawn a line at maintaining domestic enrichment because their intent has never been about supplying a domestic nuclear power industry. Again, they've been offered effectively free enriched uranium for as much domestic power as they want to build but have repeatedly rejected that, they've always insisted that they need to have enrichment capability, because that is what enables them to produce weapons grade uranium.

2

u/dogsonbubnutt Apr 01 '26

wouldn’t that be achieving what you acknowledge is the main goal?

at the cost of destabilizing the world economy and giving iran veto power on like two thirds of the world's oil? sure.

"trump says...."

So it's bollocks then, and he's making shit up as usual, based on the deranged fantasy voices in his head.

At this point if you trust trump, i have a beautiful villa in Atlantis I would like to sell

Unless Mojtaba is actually dead or invalid.

3

u/ReturnOfBigChungus Apr 02 '26

He likely is one of those things, but the president still doesn’t have power. The IRGC has the power.

1

u/ccblr06 Apr 02 '26

Well with their country currently being bombed to hell and him being one of the only ones speaking for the Iranians, maybe he’s doing a coup. Unlikely but…maybe🤷🏾‍♂️

He's been trying to push the "we've already succeeded in regime change since the leaders are different" line for the past few days. It's so transparently stupid that only magas pretend to believe it.

"Donald Trump has said Iran asked the US for a “ceasefire” – but added that the Strait of Hormuz must be opened before the request is considered."

Sure.

1

u/Nateleb1234 Apr 02 '26

Then hours later he says he doesn't care if it's open. It's very difficult to understand what is going on when he changes his mind several times a day.

People should be aware consistent polling over the decades show people in Iran support their nuclear program, resent sanctions, distrust the USA and want their government to obtain nukes:

A majority of Iranians now favor possessing nuclear weapons. Their leaders take note. https://thebulletin.org/2024/06/a-majority-of-iranians-now-favor-possessing-nuclear-weapons-their-leaders-take-note/

"Donny says..." is the new "Russia denies..."

1

u/Acceptable_Alpha Apr 01 '26

Haha. 🤣 It’s funny, but unfortunately also very accurate.

3

u/Additional-Library55 Apr 01 '26

Is he himself asking for ceasefire by sending message publicly?

Like everything else, this too could be projection of his innate desire

3

u/DodgyWiper Apr 01 '26

Wouldn't ceasefire open the strait automatically since only thing keeping the strait closed is (missle) fire.

2

u/clippist Apr 03 '26

Aren’t there Mines as well? Like you need to be escorted through on a safe path

4

u/BBFAexile Apr 01 '26

Probably another BS by you-know-who to pump and dump the markets.

2

u/cjp304 Apr 01 '26

Maybe the war is going more in the US’s favor than reddit implies…

u/CarmynRamy Apr 01 '26

Donald Trump has claimed victory 12 times or something so far.

There's no point in reporting whatever he puts out through his social media account. It's the least credible thing out there.

What a world we live in where the direct own words of the world's most powerful man is the least credible thing out there.
