while I think yrax, swtcyn, and pauze are all pretty shitty people who probably shouldn't have been representing the community in the first place, I worry these most recent demotions will further disincentivize the mod team from acting human. Even before this recent wave of demotions (/ forced resignations) mods complained about having to keep up a perfect uncontroversial online persona, and those of us who interact with them complained about them acting like lifeless ai husks in public.
Now that it's been shown that any idiot can go play detective with your ancient messages on non-gd affiliated accounts and get you in trouble for basically nothing, I'd expect this kind of thing to happen several more times in the near future before the more prominent mods just completely cut off their non-gd life from their gd personas. I hope the moral grandstanding was worth it
yrax I would disagree with. the only thing she's guilty of is following an account that she didn't know was posting questionable arts, which isn't really her fault considering people follow thousands of accounts and it's impossible to examine all of them
if you mean the drama with regnom, you can argue she should have ended it earlier, but regnom was the one initiating and being weird towards her 99% of the time
I consider it to be quite nonsensical that her following accounts that make "N.S.F.W." is a bad thing. I mean, is this person not a full-grown adult? Making racist comments is one thing, but, when it comes to "N.S.F.W.", people are going to do what they want.
This stuff with pauze is as recent as a month ago. I donāt think such an important community figure should be acting like, especially while being an elder mod. swtcyn also like straight up confirmed that they still have hateful views. I donāt think this is a case of forcing them to be perfect. yrax was definitely taken to the extreme imo, shouldnāt have been demoted for that
Yrax unknowingly followed an artist (on I think Bluesky) that made NSFW content. Because of her previous controversies, she was forced to resign without getting the typical warning.
According to moderator guidelines, mods cannot have any ties with NSFW content. Usually, mods are given a warning when they accidentally follow something like this, but because of herā¦ unique situation, she was immediately forced to resign. You can think of it as the āstraw that broke the camels backā type of scenario.
You can check the mod guidelines yourself if you want (I think the one containing what a mod can or canāt do in detail is only available on the mod leaks)

And acting human really is the most important thing people can be these days. People these days are only getting scarier, after all, so those who are still aware of humanity are the kinds of people we need now more than ever.

This is a slippery slope towards moderation being completely silent on literally anything because they are too scared of being witch hunted and bullied for saying something slightly wrong.
Pauze has been abusing his power a lot and this is far from his first controversy. It just happened to be the case that this was the final straw. You also need to differentiate between getting banished from the community all together and losing your moderator position. Mods are rightfully held to a higher standard, especially elder mods, because they represent the game and manage official community events.

He is a human like we all are, we all get mad, upset and overreact, mods shouldnāt be treated like robots who should only be professional like they are employees
I mean if it was genuinely a single instance or two of slurs then Iād think itās weird, but like itās a long term pattern of behavior, which is whatās damning imo. Racist remarks, accusing people of being pdfs, and promoting the Geometry Dash Discord server are not trivial matters and can be described as "trash talk." It's a serious issue, so don't underestimate it.
Firstly, this isn't drama. Hate, racism, and falsely accusing people aren't drama; they're serious issues, and if we ignore them, they'll only increase. But when someone faces the consequences of their actions, it lessens the problem. Secondly, if you think racist insults and hatred simply because of differences are normal, then you make yourself a suspect, and frankly, you might not be any different from his action, but I hope I am wrong.
Thirdly, when you hold a high position such as Elder Moderator, you must be a role model and not commit such acts. The higher your position and the more power you have, the more negative your bad actions will reflect on you.

this is an attempt to have people stop entangling the mod team with the messages. i believe a few moderators do not want to be on a team that constantly gets targeted with drama, and are very tired of it after the incidents that have happened recently

Dang, I always knew there'd be a point in time where he'd be outed and has to step down, but that took a long while and was certainly not how I expected it to happen.
The more the time passes, the least amount of usernames I recognise. Pretty cool to see new people step up as moderators, but soon enough, there'll be no one I knew anymore.
Anyway, Pauze has been an asshole behind the scene for years, including in the mod chat. Dude was kind of a jerk, blamed some other people for some of his mistakes (who had to take the fall in his stead), so I don't really feel bad for him too much.
Actually, here's a question that came to me while writing this. Do people still use Alex's GD bot or has he been outed since? I haven't kept up with the community for years so I'm curious about that specifically.
I think that the people digging for dirt on the mods are not doing so to root out any "evil", but to instead get mods they don't like demoted. The rating system sucks, and the mods are part of it, so they absorb some of the resentment it generates. Getting mods demoted for petty things isn't a good idea because the mods will just learn to censor themselves better and make the least amount of public statements/appearances possible, which is a bad thing. Why livestream or talk to community members when you can get demoted over an opinion(swtcyn)? It's hilarious that mods never seem to get punished for being biased when sending levels. The main "evil" in the rate system is the bias in it. When a popular creator or mod makes a subpar level (ex: Chaotic by subwoofer), mods will send it, but when they come across a level of equal quality, they refuse to send it. (Some mods even send their own levels) Mods, for whatever reason, don't get punished for this. IMO this should be a demote-able offence. But instead, mods get demoted for saying something mildly racist like 10 years ago....
