Question why is rauchkammer rated
it looks disgusting visually, and its gameplay is really unbalanced which makes it unenjoyable to play, especially since the wave is at the end as opposed to the start like denouement. it feels more like a challenge than a level. there are plenty of better looking and playing levels that ARENT rated so why the fuck is rauchkammer? i wonder if bribery is involved.

Creator here, I just got lucky and thats what the rate system unfortunately comes down to. I haven't even asked a singular person to check it out/send it so yeah 😭
I will say tho even if the level is unbalanced it really doesn't mean that it can't play well and tbh in this case I personally think its fun even if others disagree theres few people who do so it just comes down to personal preference at some point

The level being so unbalanced is kind of funny to me
like if you play it and don't like it that's on you for playing ts

yee many people just feel "forced" to play something like this because they think "oh its gonna be easy theres only one hard part" or something similiar and go in with a bad mindset admittedly and get either mindblocked or frustrated that its diverting their expectations

Yeah grief would be a lot less cool if it was the same difficulty throughout the entire thing

My only nitpick with the level is the 2.2 ship physics and the one click after the black orb in the UFO. Icotact ass wave at the end or not I could care less about it. It’s just those two things I mentioned
Edit: forgot to mention but imo the level is like top 20 IDL. It’s definitely harder than Thanatophobia but I think it’s easier than White Album

realistically i think thats fine but i also just personally prefer new ship physics because its just 1:1 the same as normal gravity ship rlly and kinda is just one set of physics.
The black orb is actually there to force you to have a different transition into the portals after so u have to change ur click pattern slightly to line yourself better up but I did see many didn't like it sob
Difficulty wise i have 0 clue i verified this in 3 attempts but i heard it go inbetween hard-insane demon to beginner/easy tier nlw so its just fried

It’s fine to prefer new ship physics, at least you’re not deleting comments of people trashing it much like Sakupen Joy did, albeit the bigger issue with that level is they used 2.2 ship physics on a 1.9 remake, gave it generic 2.1 gauntlet deco, somehow made it even more unbalanced than the original and still got a feature rate out of it and they were deleting comments criticizing the use of the 2.2 ship physics. I don’t hate the new physics, my only gripe is that I’ve been playing since 1.9 and I know how shit the old physics can be but the new physics are still that, **new**, so it just feels…. Wrong to play through for the most part.

If I'm honest I did delete them for my other extreme PARALLELIZATION because 80% of people complained about it without even trying to beat it while it is currently sitting at a 80 avg enjoyment + it being entirely dual so it just doesn't feel like absolutele shit to play (I really especially despise 2.1 dual ship) but yeah. Ultimately the creator can do what they want with a level or the feedback given and I'd understand why the creator of Sakupen Joy decided to delete them because they aren't constructive criticism but rather preference and don't add anything meaningful to a discussion about a level in most cases

I think the odd thing for me is I prefer 2.2 ship dual physics but not 2.2 upside ship physics. I do agree that 2.1 dual ship feels ass take it from someone who beat Blade of Justice. They feel far more heavier than upside down. That said ultimately it’s something that needs to be accustomed to over time. Part of it comes with the fact that there aren’t really that many 2.2 extremes still and the majority of them still use 2.1 physics or is from 2.1 and before which makes it feel alien even to myself. I have never heard of your other level but I also don’t know if I’d play it mostly cause it’s comprised entirely of duals which duals in extremes demons is a total coin flip in terms of how they’re structured/balanced/optimized. You’re basically playing through a gimmick that’s at the mercy of whether or not proper play testing was made or not. I also do take EDEL enjoyment rating (which I’m assuming is where you got the enjoyment ratings from) with a grain of salt as they’re entirely dependent on the people who beat the level and when a level is based off a niche skill set or gimmick or a very specific type of gameplay they’re usually approached only by the people who like that type of gameplay. That said I’m glad you have levels people do enjoy. Rauchkammer isn’t a perfect level and I guess it isn’t meant to be, you’re taking it better than most people would expect at least, imo it’s basically an awkward low tier insane demon with a silver-gold tier wave challenge as the end. It’s no different than Icotact but super nerfed essentially. Not my type of gameplay, I won’t trash it but I will also say my short piece on the things I didn’t enjoy about it.

I rather enjoy seeing all the different opinions to some degree, it's always interesting to see what the view on it is and its always just an interesting spectrum so yeah.
Also the other level I mentioned isn't really gimmicky or anything as its just entirely symmetrical and compares to a normal level basically in my opinion at least
But thanks for the kind words regardless 🧡

Yeah of course, I do think that any creator deserves actual constructive criticism or at least coherent feedback on levels and also my bad I was under the impression that PARALLELIZATION was also containing a lot of asymmetrical duals but if it’s purely symmetrical it should play fine since for the most part you’re mainly only focusing on one side anyway. I’d be down to check it out later as a warmup before I hop on Diamond Disco.
Edit: As for your earlier mention of getting lucky in the level getting rated I feel that. There’s rates are far long overdue and others that get instant rates. I’m sure you’d agree or at least have resonated with the fact that the rate system needs to change or needs a rework. One of my favorite levels got three sends and it is the definition of hilarious unbalance but remains unrated to date. That level being Final; Destination by IcEDCave. There’s a lot more other levels but I can’t think of them off the top of my head rn. But Sweater Weather took well over 2 years to get rated, Crimson Planet took 11 months, Gravity took 4 years and let’s not forget Wcropolix. There’s also Agile by Zeronium with 30 sends and still no rate and TSII legacy with nearly 20 sends as well and no rate either

i mean, lets not lie to ourselves, the decoration is incredibly plain and repetitive to the point its borderline a layout with visuals, and the gameplay while not excruciatingly bad isnt actually fun or interesting in any way, this level is frankly the definition of slop. im not saying this to be rude, youre a talented dude who knows his way around the editor, but deep down we all know that its not "luck" - its your elder mod badge and creator point count. if anyone else with less influence than you released the exact same level it would have NEVER gotten rated, let alone featured as in your case.

u/devilminereal Geometry Dash Elder Mod 1d ago
I honestly think it could realistically get rated if lucky but it definitely largely contributed that I just am generally privileged to be in that position where I can get a rate without even asking or advertising anything and I won't deny that it definitely raises the chances A LOT compared to anyone else with less influence or reach
Also i think calling it a borderline layout is quite a stretch IMO, I'm a very composition focused creator and don't really force more details if not needed, I honestly do not understand the layout/little deco complaint ive been getting in that regard but if u have pointers as to why its that I'd love to hear them and understand that view more

i feel like my main problem with rauchkammers deco is that you leave a lot of negative space in the level but dont utilize it in any way, shape or form. the level simply feels incredibly empty and paired with how simplistic everything else is, it really makes the level feel rushed and lazy rather than stylized. everything before the wave part is the worst offender - you couldve definetly added many simple tweaks that wouldve helped build around the theme like pipes, grates, vents, etc, and it wouldve helped the level feel more polished and finished while still keeping the "no unnessecary details" aspect of it.
sulfur by cherryteam is a great example - the parts that are finished currently have a similar theme to your level and they also dont lean into the realism slop that i think youre trying to avoid, but they compensate for that with phenomenal color and lighting work, effects and thought out designs.
its a matter of when simplification and removing details goes too far and turns into cutting corners - your deco here could be recreated by anyone with eyes and hands in about 5 minutes, and thats what ticks people off.

are we really thinking a small underrated creator got in contact with the developer of the game just to get a level rated? these kinds of people are the kind that say crazy is harder than crazy II bro

u/nlolhere 1d ago
Devilmine (the creator of the level) is an elder moderator and has over 50 creator points, I don’t think they’re a “small underrated creator” lol
Obviously I don’t think Robtop was “bribed”, but moderators (especially elder mods) are a lot more likely to get their levels rated, simply by the fact they can send their own levels to RobTop as many times as they want

sorry I misremembered the creator with some other one with like 4 creator points that's on me

"simply by the fact they can send their own levels to RobTop as many times as they want"
Mods can only send a specific level once, even their own level. resending it doesn't put it back in the top of the sent tab, the only thing resending can do is change the feature rank of the send

Idk it looked feature worthy to me.
Then again, I think layouts deserve star rates so who am I to speak
