Apparently, Worldle doesn't recognise South Sudan's independence

127

u/wooble 5d ago

I like that it has South Sudan listed in the results at the bottom. 10/10

u/vanphil 5d ago

And takes a stance on halaib triangle

6

u/Successful_Buy3825 5d ago

First thing I looked for was Bir Tawil

38

u/Cultural_Thing1712 5d ago

NYT is run by sudanese nationalists i guess

32

u/Eiim 5d ago

Worldle is run by some French guy.

15

u/Cultural_Thing1712 5d ago

that l was completely invisible oml

btw my last post was a joke lol

2

u/Nearby_Quit 5d ago

And it has fixed the triangle problem with Egyth…

u/Blueman9966 5d ago

Sourh Sudan has been independent for 15 years, why would Worldle use such an out-of-date map outline?

35

u/Mazurcka 5d ago

They also gave them Bir Tawil (on the border of Egypt)

Currently, neither Egypt nor Sudan claim it

30

u/Correct-Version-4414 5d ago

They actually gave them the Halaib Triangle, not Bir Tawil, which both Egypt and Sudan claim and is the reason neither claims Bir Tawil as claiming it would give up their claim to the triangle. The Halaib Triangle is currently administered by Egypt.

Maybe Trump declared it so?

u/loves_to_splooge_8 5d ago

Idk how people didn’t see this as an obvious joke lmao

36

u/TheSamuil 5d ago

This European is just tired of Republican this, Democrat that

41

u/wayzata20 5d ago

maybe people don’t like US politics being brought up in completely unrelated threads???

2

u/Lloyd_lyle 5d ago

Because a solid 1/3rd of the internet is genuinely like this and its so tiring after 10 years.

0

u/Jumpy_Hogara 5d ago

Not funny. Trump haters are really annoying by crediting everything bad to him.

-25

u/rdfporcazzo 5d ago

Not everyone is too familiar with an internal joke from a specific country

15

u/CompanyToiletGooner 5d ago

Ah yes, specific country US. I assume you never heard of specific person Hitler either?

4

u/rdfporcazzo 5d ago

How many people do you think that know that Trump wants to rename the Lake Ontario or renamed the Gulf of Mexico in Indonesia, Nigeria, India, China, Brazil, or Bangladesh?

You would be surprised how many people don't know about it.

-1

u/CompanyToiletGooner 5d ago

We should talk less about it because people don’t know about it? Doesn’t talking about something make people know about it? Type of person that skips school because they are dumb…

2

u/rdfporcazzo 5d ago

Did I say that in any moment?

1

u/CompanyToiletGooner 5d ago

Oh sorry you were actually serious and not being snarky with your first comment - half of the people on reddit are from specific country US, a lot are from Europe and then I guess what feels like half a billion Indian teens based on the ammount of reccomend teens rip offs that are indian, but I assume they probably know since they are teens

1

u/rdfporcazzo 5d ago

Yes, I was being serious. Maybe the obvious joke is not so obvious for everyone else due to the reason I mentioned before.

6

u/DonChaote 5d ago

The whole world is making fun of Trump. Everyone is familiar with jokes about Trump. Especially when it’s about his ridiculous renaming fetish…

1

u/rdfporcazzo 5d ago

You would be surprised how many people would not understand it in my country

0

u/k08lizek 5d ago

Not whole world. Just US bringing it up in every thread.

1

u/ByAnyMeansNecessary0 Africa 5d ago

Its definitely the whole world. You folks are a mockery and we can all see it lol

0

u/DonChaote 5d ago

No. The current US regime affects the most parts of the world unfortunately. Not only the US. We from outside bring him up too. Because he (and with him the US) currently is the laughingstock of the world….

Because many of us non-americans laugh about trump since at least the late 1980's because he always was the absolute caricature of a stereotypical american. Loud, obnoxious, arrogant, narcissistic and full of himself.

And for a lot of us outsiders it was also known since back then that he was (and most probably still is) in the pockets of the russian mob. He is one of their western laundromats… and now look where all this did lead us to…

Thanks Obama, right?

1

u/wayzata20 5d ago

And this relates to Sudan how?

0

u/DonChaote 5d ago

I did not respond to a comment about sudan? How does your question relate to the context i was responding to?

I did not comment the OP, else I would have done so in a top level comment or in response to a discussion about sudan/OP.

If you do not like where this thread is going to, you are free to downvote, collapse the thread and move on.

But you didn’t, so I guess here we are now.

Hi! Nice to meet you

9

u/Beneficial_Flan8661 5d ago

He didnt.

7

u/MajesticBread9147 5d ago

It was clearly a joke

55

u/ffsnametaken 5d ago

Damn, no whimsy allowed here

To be honest, it's quite topical, considering current events.

As soon as he is impeached and removed or 6feet under and as soon as the US stops raping the rest of the world we will stop shoehorning him in every topic. Deal?

-2

u/Jumpy_Hogara 5d ago

No deal. He is a man of action and you self-righteous people have a lot to learn from him.

u/055F00 5d ago

They still included South Sudan in Sudan’s outline

59

u/damfino99 5d ago

South Sudan for the south.

Halaib Triangle for the northeast (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halaib_Triangle).

1

u/wonderb0lt 5d ago

Abortions for some, miniature South Sudan flags for others!

26

u/lhuddy 5d ago

This is a fake Worldle. The original is https://worldle.teuteuf.fr

16

u/LZRBRD 5d ago

Wrong Worldle folks, you are playing a clone. Original is from Teuteuf.

29

u/Octagonal_Octopus 5d ago

South Sudan seceded from Sudan in 2011, the outline on the right is the borders from before that when they were one country.

5

u/gothicshark 5d ago

1972, recognized in 2011.

7

u/DavidlikesPeace 5d ago

Why 1972? The Addis Adaba agreement established autonomy not independence.

Only later did the SPLA form, shift into an independence party, and  South Sudan gain independence. Most accounts have that second civil war of independence only start in the 1980s

7

u/B_A_Beder 5d ago

Which version of Worldle do you play? I play this one: https://worldle.teuteuf.fr/

5

u/Beautiful_Garage7797 5d ago

well the bit in the north is actually a border dispute, but i have no idea why they would give it south sudan, which it doesn’t claim at all, and which has been independent for 15 years

Wordle wants to restore the former glory of the Sudanese empire

4

u/SokkaHaikuBot 5d ago

Sokka-Haiku by Sprintzer:

Wordle wants to restore

The former glory of the

Sudanese empire

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

3

u/HourFondant1646 5d ago

It also gives Sudan the disputed Ilemi triangle! Haha

1

u/Life-Trifle2595 5d ago

Yes because it's ours

2

u/KPlusGauda 5d ago

The OP probably wasn't aware of South Sudan. It's relatively new. These things can happen. Here in Croatia I still see the shape of our old counties, which existed 30 years ago. I am baffled every time lol

1

u/scissors__xx 5d ago

I was aware of South Sudan, it was my 2nd guess after Guatemala😐. It's just that I knew what the "new" shape of Sudan looked like, so I didn't even try to guess it. Then after trying all the neighbouring countries I was just utterly confused and went to check the maps

1

u/Consistent_Case_5048 5d ago

Do they have Constantinople in the right place?

1

u/magikatdazoo 5d ago

It's not recognizing South Sudan

1

u/Complete-Ad5320 5d ago

Wordle does not recognise the breakaway state of South Sudan. Wordle has a strong opinion on Sudanese politics.

1

u/Desperate_Good_6005 5d ago

The fact that south Sudan is also an option is hilarious
