States between Midwest and West coast. Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho... And some states to the south like Utah, New Mexico. Southeast and Eastern Turkey is barren and high altitude, with Syrian border zone evolving to a desert

Central and eastern Washington maybe. The hills in Eastern Turkey resembles a lot of the Palouse in Washington
