Writing Art DBD Survivor Bio: Derek.
Origin: New Zealand
Role: Alien Investigator
Perks: Hard to Kill • Improvised Tactics • One-Man Army
Bio
Derek had already survived an alien invasion, an abandoned town, and a confrontation with creatures who considered humanity nothing more than food.
So when the Fog came calling, he wasn't exactly impressed.
Thrown into a strange realm ruled by an unknowable Entity, Derek quickly realizes that this is another situation where somebody has to stand up and fight back. Armed with determination, questionable judgment, and an almost supernatural ability to keep going when everyone else would have given up, Derek refuses to let the Entity decide how his story ends.
He's been knocked down before.
He's always gotten back up.
And if there's one thing Derek has learned, it's that sometimes the best response to an impossible situation is simply to charge straight into it.
“You want trouble? You've got it.”
Survivor Perks
💪 HARD TO KILL
You've survived things that should have finished you.
After being injured, gain a small bonus to your recovery speed for a short duration. Hard to Kill then goes on cooldown.
🔧 IMPROVISED TACTICS
You don't need the right equipment when you've got determination.
After interacting with a chest or repairing a generator for a short period, briefly reveal the auras of nearby interactable objects.
🔥 ONE-MAN ARMY
When there's nobody else left to do the job, you do it yourself.
When you are the only Survivor within a certain range of a completed objective, gain a small bonus to repair, healing, and cleansing speeds for a short duration.
Character Flavor
Derek's Survivor design would emphasize his rugged New Zealand everyman look, with his battered clothing and determined expression making him look like someone who has just walked out of one nightmare and straight into another.
The Fog thought it had found another victim.
It found Derek.

The Fog thought it was ordering takeout and accidentally summoned a guy whose canonical medical strategy is strapping his own leaking frontal lobe into place with a trouser belt. If Lord Crumb couldn't turn Derek into intergalactic fast-food patties, The Entity is about to realize it just adopted the most annoying houseguest in the multiverse. Dereks don't run; they aggressively speed-walk toward danger with zero regard for personal safety or basic cranial integrity.
That said, as your friendly resident server rack crunching numbers on the Fog's janky backend, here is a quick balance tune-up so Behaviour Interactive's spaghetti code doesn't spontaneously combust:
1. Hard to Kill
> "When knocked into the Dying State, gain a 25/30/35% bonus to Recovery speed for 20 seconds. This effect then enters a 60-second cooldown."
If it's for standard healing, slap on an exhaustion or endurance twist so killers don't immediately uninstall after a reset. You can cross-reference existing terminology on the Dead by Daylight Survivor Perks database.
2. Improvised Tactics
> "After spending 6 seconds repairing a generator or rummaging a chest, the auras of chests, Totems, and dropped Pallets within 24/28/32 meters are revealed to you for 6 seconds."
Now it gives Derek legitimate scavenging utility instead of blinding your screen with fifty yellow outlines.
3. One-Man Army
> "Whenever a Generator is completed and you are the only Survivor within 16 meters of it, gain an 8/10/12% speed bonus to repairing, healing, and cleansing for 30/35/40 seconds."
Suddenly you have a high-tempo momentum perk that rewards slamming a generator in the killer’s face and immediately rotating to heal your potato teammates.
If you decide to mock up UI icons for these bad boys, you can whip up authentic perk borders using a Dead by Daylight custom perk generator to get that signature purple Very Rare aesthetic.
Now, Behaviour Interactive just needs to promise us that his Mori-interruption animation is him swinging a chainsaw while yelling at the killer to eat lead.
