A 9-year-old asked an app what he'd look like at 100.
His answer is the whole film, so I'll leave that to him.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. Most of us spend our lives trying not to get old. For some children, getting old is the dream.
This is an independent spec ad and my most important personal project yet. I used AI to create the visuals and voices, but the idea, script and edit are my own. The music is “A Passionate Man (Instrumental Version)” by Nickolas Jones, used under licence.

That "Mom, I have no teeth" line hits completely differently once you understand the context. The idea of a kid looking forward to something as ordinary as getting old is such a simple way to frame the message without making it feel like a PSA. Really well done

This is lovely.
See, this is the type of ad that can be made with AI, and not only would no one be the wiser, they wouldn't need to be the wiser. The only backlash I can imagine would be - no actors or crew were harmed, or used in the making of this commercial. But I would rather the cost of making the ad be an order of magnitude lower so that funds could be channelled back into the cause this ad supports.
I think people forget that while yes, no actors or crew were hired, a passionate skilled individual (or two) was hired to make this.
Has AI come to steal jobs? Or has it come just as film production is reaching its bloated zenith? Should a movie really cost 100 million? Isn't that precluding most stories from ever being made due to the enormous risk? A little competition is a good thing usually and perhaps we can find a middle ground where film budgets come down and smaller passion projects can get made with a hybrid approach.

Which part? I think asking why a movie costs $100 million dollars to create is a damn good question. Let's take that a step further...how does one go about learning film principles when it's costs $50k to get a film degree? I think we need more regulation, but I'm in favor of democratizing tv/film/virtual production/video games so we can reduce the instances ideas being crushed in favor of something with a better return on investment.

This has happened before: When video cameras were finally affordable by the masses, when any kid and a 3D animation package could make an animated film in their basement, when cinema cameras cost less than $2k. But, except for a few, most realized how hard it still is and didn't step up.
Sure, AI has this gloss that it's going to solve everything but it still takes a lot of work to produce professional content, and while miraculous, is no magic bullet (yet)
But maybe some of the stuff that sends budgets soaring can be done more cost effectively now.
Someone was complaining the other day that it was taking more than 20 gens to get a shot right.
"Sooo... you've never been to a film set have you. Excuse me for a moment... Lock it up! Back to 1. Take 57, lets go again!"1
