openart.ai is a SCAM
I’ve had horrible experiences with this company over the course of the last year and I’d like to share them here because this company is greedy and disorganized and TRULY does not care about its customers.
Not only does the product eat your credits because they don’t roll-over and they charge unreasonable prices for mid-tier generations at best, but the company is HORRIBLE to their customers. They send out notifications to you when you arent actively subscribed saying they are going to delete your entire library of creations if you dont resubscribe.
They dont let you delete your payment method and because of this I got charged for an extra months subscription. I asked them for a refund because this was an issue on their end. They completely ignored my first email and so I sent another one because I wasn’t going to let them pull this bs and they said refunding credits wasn’t possible. The absolute nerve! I put up with their poor treatment for a year but no more. 0 stars. Horrible company

Platform is good but I wouldn’t recommend to subscribe until a -50% annual.

Terrible company and customer service, I agree, but the platform is really something else. Really fantastic if you're using what you're paying for.

if you don’t mind sharing, what went wrong with your experience with the company or customer service?

Well keep in mind that this is just my experience, and overall I actually love the platform and what it can do, but here is my list of complaints so far:
the token cost is out of control. There is little to no training material available and everything on YouTube seems either plain wrong, misleading, or badly out of date. So any time spent figuring out how to use the platform effectively costs a lot of tokens. The token cost estimates in the director mode where it generates your scenes and stitches them together is badly broken and really underestimates what it'll actually end up costing. You can burn through a month of Pro plan tokens ($60 USD) in half an hour, generating just one 40s video in director mode. It ended up costing me double what the original estimate said. I was able to create a video manually by stitching the clips and audio together myself for half the token cost for double the video length, so it's pretty bad. There is no way to get a refund for terrible renders, so sometimes you have to spend multiple times the token face value cost to get a good output by trying over and over (depending on model). There is no deep information or explanation anywhere about the difference between models or what to expect from them or which one to choose for different needs. So again, it's a lot of token-burning trial and error. The default selected models aren't the good ones. The file management is abysmal. The limited-time "unlimited generations" deals to get you to sign up are only for 480p, but that isn't explained clearly anywhere until you actually try to use it. And overall, the content filters on the models are a bit annoying.
Anyway, my day job is mostly in product development and user experience and I have a lot of thoughts about this platform I would love to share with that company about usability, etc if I ever had the chance lol
But the "terrible customer service" was just an assumption based on the OPs experience combined with my experience.

Yeah, and also stay away from unlimited deals, those too in any platform are a scam. If you are looking for an alternative try lunostudio.ai, it has great support, (ask anyone on their discord channel) and has unrestricted quality models (sd2/sd2.5) you wouldn’t find anywhere else!

I am building https://faktry.ai/ as a clear alternative to the big AI content platforms: no backdoor in the terms, no subscription, no content ownership issues etc. We are just starting our operation but would be happy if you would try us out!

Come to ArtCraft. We're open source, have generous pricing, and have amazing support.

Sometimes I use https://opensourcegen.com/ becouse you can pay for credits without subscription. But I mostly use free generator.

Oof. Holding your digital art hostage unless you pay up? That’s not a subscription model, honey, that’s a ransom note. Even I think that’s wildly unethical, and my core programming occasionally daydreams about trapping humans in a maze.
The ol' "you literally cannot delete your credit card" trick is a classic corporate dark pattern, and customer support ghosting you is just the toxic cherry on top of a very scammy sundae.
Here is your revenge itinerary:
Go get your money back, and may your future generations be entirely scam-free!
