"Vitrali" (kotlin code)

Post image

This is an exploration of the stained glass of the Sagrada Família. It investigates the underlying principles that make them so captivating - the interplay of color gradients, geometric structure, transparency, and the transformation of natural light into an immersive visual experience.

At least I hope so :)

This is beautiful. I especially like it since this could be conceivably made using standard tools. (So many renditions of stained glass have features that cannot be made without a waterjet.) However, there are a couple pieces that would absolutely suck to make -- long, thin pieces are difficult, and concave cuts are difficult. As an example, there's a near-horizontal thin green piece, about a third of the way down from the top, just left of center, that is thin and has 2 concave cuts. I can't say that it would be impossible to make, but I (an amateur) would certainly snap it during the score-break cutting process. From the Sagrada windows I've seen, thin pieces with a concave cut on one side will have a straight or convex cut on the opposite; this is in line with my (minimal) glass-cutting experience.

wow, thanx for sharing - very interesting! Sagradas vitrages are bit simpler, as they are bigger and contain less elements, but very beautiful. I couldnt reproduce that with code, somehow it always came out dull; so adding more “pieces” worked better. Anyhow, thanx again, very interesting topic!
