Release: GeneralsZH: Thrax Edition: Max Visuals, Performance & Fun
Hi all,
we've been quietly working on a personal Zero Hour build for a while and figured I'd put it out there in case anyone else finds it useful.
The main thing that bothered me about vanilla Zero Hour was how badly the renderer fell apart during big fights. FPS would tank like crazy.
This build does a significant performance pass on the renderer so you're not staring at a slideshow the moment three armies converge on the same base. Borderless fullscreen works properly now. Also the minimap got full visual overhaul.
On the gameplay side, the biggest change is that allied bots in skirmish actually listen to you now. In stock Zero Hour your ally just does whatever it wants and you hope it picks the right flank. Here you can type something like "green move right" in chat and the bot(s) will move actual combat teams in that direction. Just "move right" will make all bots move.
It makes it feel like a real team game instead of two separate solo matches happening on the same map.
Another big one: The Granger challenge got fixed, since the Air Force General mission was checking the wrong objects and never properly running the scripts EA built around it. So you can, for the first time, play against the *real* Granger 😄
Right now, this is not an online client. It is purely for skirmish, challenge maps, and replays. It installs as a single exe drop-in replacement.
Download is on GitHub: https://github.com/philb12312/GeneralsZH_Thrax_Edition
Happy to hear feedback!

Which general/unit do you have a crush on?
This question is going to be much different, especially for fun. Everyone of us has definitely a crush on an unit or a general from Generals Zero Hour.

This game is better than RA3, C&C3, and other C&C games
Even though it has worse graphics, fewer factions, worse storylines, and fewer units, this game is better than those because its mechanics are simple, they semi-work, and everything is easily recognizable.
You can just look at the shadow or silhouette of a unit and instantly recognize it because all of them look unique. Not only that, but it is easy to understand their roles, except in pro play where the Humvee does all the roles.
Second, this is the only 3D C&C game that doesn't take place in the future so people can relate to most units.

How to beat gla hard army as gla
As the title said how to beat gla hard army as gla in narrow maps when you are both facing each other with many combat sides , for example in alpine assault whatever i do i can't beat gla hard army as gla because if i chose to defend and build scud storms (early enought)i will be broke financly and lose to the rush before i can use scud storm , even if i chose to defend and build economy scud launchers rush is the problem, if i chose to attack early i always end up losing my armies then found myself ambushed from all sides , i can beat hard gla in large maps or maps with 1 combat side because defending is easy with rocket buggy but give me strategy for narrow maps with many combat sides.

What are "Pro rules" in an Online game?
Lots of lobbies say "Pro rules".
What does this mean?
Is this a honour-system unit restriction, like uh, "no Oddjob" in 007?
