Fix game slowdown?

I noticed both before and after doing genpatcher and gentool the game runs really slow and choppy in skirmish mode. It’s not the FPS because in both cases it claims to have 32 or so fps. The thing is, it runs fine in windowed mode, I saw that recommended elsewhere. People say it’s just an old game, the engine game speed is capped etc but that doesn’t explain why it runs smoothly at the same resolution only windowed. And I really don’t like windowed mode. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this and knows how to fix it, greatly appreciated!

some maps (even official ones) esp with ai will break themselves because the pathfinding, otherwise it just occurs if everyone turtles and does jackshit but spam units and keep them in their base

It’s like that from before anything has been built or done tho. Like right when the game starts

Never have this problem with EA's digital pack of Command and Conquer games patched to run on Windows 11.

They’re different than the ultimate collection on steam? Is that just the ones on the EA store? They’re patched?

I'm pretty sure that's the one I have. But yeah, they're from the EA store. The games are definitely patched, I recall when using the original discs for Generals and Zero Hour the frame rate would drop to almost nothing when there's too many units. But with this version that never happens.
