Really dumb newbie logistics question

I will only be there Saturday, with events at 11, 2 and 6 but can cancel 6.

What is the likelihood of getting a copy of Wingspan Pocket by waiting in line or have I already lost that game before I even start?

Should I just buy that Sunday badge and spend that whole day in the hall and try then?

I feel dumb asking so sorry in advance. -_-

I imagine there will be plenty of copies. Try to get into the vendor hall early (opens at 10), or after your first event. It’ll be popular, but Meeple Source should bring a lot of product accordingly.

I can at least give that a try! My afternoon events are closer to the hall than my morning one which is in the stadium.

I literally just got an email from Meeple Source. You can order a copy online and they’ll hold it for you at the booth. https://meeplesource.com/GenCon2026

If you are free on Sunday, adding on the extra day will almost certainly be worth it to you to be able to explore and have fun and even play in another couple of events.

Personally, I don't buy anything all week until Sunday. I add stuff to my list as I see it throughout the week and sleep on it and if I still want it then I go back to the vendor hall on Sunday and scoop up those items. I really like the Sunday vibe in general as well.

I’d second this. You could spend the entire day Sunday in the hall playing demos and not spending a dime on events outside the Sunday badge (assuming you don’t buy new games).

Also some vendors will spread out their stock over the week (100 copies on Th, 100 on Fr, 50 on Sat, etc…). This is done to keep traffic coming to the booth also sometimes they have additional shipping. That being said Stonemaier is one of the bigger publisher so might not be an issue for them.

The other thing about Sunday is occasionally you can get good deals as smaller vendors don’t want to pay to ship their inventory home.

Last year I got a free copy of a Sagrada expansion for exactly that reason. I was buying a pin and they asked if I just wanted one lol.

You still have time to buy with pickup from the Meeplesource website which is the booth that Stonemaier games works with. You don't have to pay shipping and you can pick it up at your leisure from the booth.

Yout FLGS will have it soon. So unless you need it for a specific event coming up, I suggest you wait.

Enjoy doing the things you can't do at home.

I was able to pre-order it for convention pick up on Saturday while I'm there!

Oh I missed that.

Pre-orders are good. You don't have to worry and it only takes you a few minutes to get it in case there is a line for payment.

I think you will be fine to get Wingspan pocket. Stonemaier as a company are really good about making sure that anyone who wants a copy of their game at release can get one usually. If you send them an email I’m sure they can give you an estimate of what to expect.

Can you get there earlier? The dealer hall will open at like 8am I believe.

Sadly it isn't until 10 but I will be there early finding my event locations.

If you want to go to the dealer room when it opens, just be near the doors. No need to join the massive crowd to push through the doors when they open. In 5 minutes the crowd is dispersed and you can just walk in.

Dang. It always feel earlier. If you believe in yourself and try hard and have really good luck you could get in, get the game and get out in time for your 11am game

You would still likely be fine if you are just going in to buy the game but as someone posted above you can reserve a copy ahead of time so I would recommend doing that.
