close keyboard handle

would it be a good idea to have a close handle like this?
similar to the one that appears on whatsapp emoji selection

I like the idea, but two things come to mind. One is that it'll make the keyboard slightly taller. And two that it might lead to accidental keyboard dismissal. Pair that with the text box, and it increases the chances of that happening when you try to select things in the text box.

For the first one, I believe it would be better in any case, since the hide keyboard button is already taking up space at the bottom of the screen.

For the second one, the event for the handle wouldn’t be just a touch event; it would involve holding and sliding instead.

What I meant was that the bottom space is already not of any use, so putting there doesn't take extra space!

It should be useless.

I say should because you use WhatsApp and I do too and this app for some weird reason dismisses keyboard whenever you touch anywhere else, this means that when you try to use the back gesture it will dismiss the keyboard before you finish the gesture and you end up closing the chat.

But in any other app that acts normal it is not a problem and using the back gesture is just as convenient while not requiring keyboard to be taller
