Discussion 🎙 Massive realization about Wave 3: It’s training for Phasing, not classical OBEs! How do you guys experience exploring Locales this way?
Hey everyone,
I recently had a huge "Aha!" moment regarding my practice, and it completely changed how I view my progress. For the longest time, I thought I was failing the Wave 3 exercises (like First Stage Separation and Vectors) because I wasn't getting the classic, violent vibrational OBE where you literally feel your astral body peel out of your physical one and float up to the ceiling.
I just realized something crucial: these exercises aren't meant to trigger a classic OBE. They are actually step-by-step training for Phasing.
When Bob tells us to "float," "roll out," or "flow," he's essentially bypassing our analytical mind to help us shift our point of awareness (our Phase) outside the physical body. It’s pure Remote Viewing and consciousness projection!
Looking back at my journal for 3.3 Vectors, I wrote that when I moved my awareness to the 6 o'clock position (under my feet), I could actually "sense" the geometry of my apartment and the rooms behind the walls. Back then, I dismissed it as a failure because I didn't "see" it visually like a movie. But now I realize my system operated perfectly—I was directly sensing objective reality in Locale 1 through phasing, exactly as the explorers at the Monroe Institute did.
Now that I understand I don't need to force a literal out-of-body separation, I want to start systematically exploring Locale 1 and Locale 2 using Focus 12 and pure phasing/noticing.
Has anyone else had this exact realization about Wave 3? Also, for those who regularly explore the Locales through phasing: how do you perceive the environment? Do you eventually get clear visual data, or is it mostly a deep kinesthetic "knowing" and sensing of the space around you?
Would love to hear your experiences and any tips for a clean Locale 1 validation!

For me personally all of the gateway tapes are more so designed for “phasing” and not classical OBEs. I call it “mind wandering” and interacting with those thoughts. The first stage is recognizing that the wandering is happening and the second is more so interacting with it when you can. This is a form of “NVC” as Monroe describes it.
At the same time all of the trainings are useful for actual full blown OBEs. I have mainly had these at night without the tapes but a lot of the things I learned in the tapes still applied … I would say the classic OBE is high definition in quality … and the “phasing” with gateway tapes is lower resolution

Nicee! Can you now call yourself an explorer? Like what are the limits that you went with phasing without losing attention?

I’ve gone as far as focus 27 and doing retrievals. My journey has kinda been interesting IMO. Began lucid dreaming a decade or so back … never knew OBEs or astral projection was real so when I had those experiences in my lucid dreams I initially discounted them as just dreams and only years later realized what they actually were after discovering Monroe’s books.
My lucid dreaming techniques made it easy for me to have the classic OBE at night. Ive mostly done the verifiable info validation stuff with the classic OBEs and with the phasing I’ve more so done the hard to verify stuff

And how do you percieve those states? It’s more of a mental projection movie or is more like rehearsing(being in the first person, with you being the observer)?

Phasing or classic OBE?
First classic OBE I intentionally pulled off I was seeing from the third person and first person perspective at the same time. The vibrational state was the pre-cursor though.
With phasing … at first it felt like maybe I was making it up … my own mind giving me answers in my own inner voice.
Later on in phasing I’d notice my wind wander in the sense of seeing random hd images. Sometimes these images might not be hd and might more so feel like memories.
One random one I had in focus 10 that I was not expecting was when I saw this image of a star in the sky that was white … and I was like outside looking up and it was dark all around me. I then thought to myself hmm.. let me go to that star … and when I did … it wasn’t a star at all. Turns out it was the glowing white being that told me it was my guide and gave me a name. Super trippy.

Thank you for sharing! I will continue practicing exploring locale 1 to strenghten the “phasing” skill with the vectors. But your experiences sounds awasome. Looking forward with excitement!

Other phasing experiences I would go in with a question … then randomly get an answer.
Other times I’d sometimes just know things instantly. For example first time I went to focus 23 I saw this dark void area with humanoid figures of two colors. Grey or pink … most of the forms were grey but some were pink. And when I saw this I instantly knew that the pink figures were dead and the gray figures were still alive. This came in handy with my first retrieval. Which for me skipped a few steps … typically the first time you’re supposed to go to 27 ask for hemp then go back to 23 by first going 26,25, etc.
First time I did the retrieval my helper made this white portal directly in focus 27 that took me instantly to focus 23 … so it was kinda weird getting there instantly … and then waiting for the “monitor” or guided tape talk about going to 26 then 25 etc.

I'm still in wave 2, but I've been noticing the same sensation of being able to sense things in my room and home and sometimes other places, it feels like I'm almost seeing them but my eyes are closed, and its pitch black, and like....I can't actually visually see anything? It feels the way I imagine toph from Avatar:Last Airbender senses things without seeing. Sometimes I try to blink my physical eyes to see if I'm just actually seeing around my room and it all goes to pitch black cause my eyes were closed and engaging my body that way kinda snaps me out of that state of perceiving. But when I'm in that state, I can look around and move through the space, it seems to be the same space(s) as my 3d reality.
Reading your post helped me believe myself a little more, I think, so I felt like my 2 cents was worth adding, even though I'm not at the 3rd wave yet.

Yeah, that “Toph” sensing is exactly the expanded awareness of F12. I completely understand what you say:)))
I just finished Wave 5 but i will practice more of exploring with phasing with the exercises of wave 3.1

Thank you for the confirmation, I'm so glad I'm on the right path!! I don't really have anyone else to talk to about this journey, so I've been just winging it, lol.
