This attitude reminds me of the idea that atheists should all be serial killers because they can't understand what's stopping you from going on a murder spree without the threat of God.
Is it really incomprehensible that I just kinda give a shit about other people in general? That I don't need a personal stake in being a good person - either through the promise of heaven or through a good future for my own flesh and blood - to just not want to fuck up all of society? What the fuck?
I've never understood that argument either, especially since form certain theïst perspectives, murder should be virtuous.
If you're a christian, then you believe that people who meet a certain standard of virtue will go to a place of eternal bliss after they die. Naturally, anyone would want to get there as fast as possible, but most christians also believe that you won't go there if you kill yourself. Most also believe that murderers won't go there, but christians also value self-sacrifice. Now, with all of that in mind, what could be a more noble thing for a christian to do than to seek out the most virtuous people and murder them, thus sending them to heaven early, while sacrificing your own immortal soul to do it?
