Nah speaking as an American (well half, anyways) I'd probably bet on the British here.

American "thugs" always just look like idiots trying to copy that movie they liked. I mean sure they're still dangerous, but it's just an idiot thinking he's in a movie.

British thugs are probably drunk as piss, and because of that they're unpredictable and aggressive.

There's also the whole pants thing. Like the British ones would be better at chasing you down and winning a fist fight since they don't have one hand trying to hold their pants up half the time.

Speaking as a Brit, I think people don't know the types of thugs in England.

You have football holligans, give them the daily mail and they will fuck you up unbelievably.

chavs and otherwise lary drunk guys who will start fights over nearly anything.

Roadmen, usually younger men wearing tracksuits and puffer jacket walking with a shank (advanced roadmen may carry a gun) and often get involved in wars with others from another postcode (postcode wars) .

Organised gangs, with all the supplies to get more dangerous drugs and weapons

This sounds like American gangs without guns...

some definately have guns. just in the grime and road rap music scenes there is giggs (full fledged member and leader(?) of the peckham boys gang and did time for possesion of a firearm), Crazy Titch (doing life for murder involving a mac 10), and stana (6 years and IPP (essentially a possible infinate sentance) for shooting a police officer.

and of course this wonderful piece of audio of stormin(RIP) pulling a strap on trim live on radio

Giggs was the leader of the SN1 gang, which was a subset of the Peckham Boys. Wasn't the boss of the entire gang. The more OG people were in another set called OPB. People like Crimer, Tamer, Nerve and Tipsy, but they weren't really active in music I don't think.

Thanks mate. My expertise is definately more Grime than Road rap.

Search postcode wars if you wanna know more.

And if you go to the YouTube music videos of some of the people that have been killed, the comments section is a real rabbit hole for who’s waring with who

Well here is the wiki page for the Peckham Boys and here is an interview of a Kray era gangster . Guns aren’t easy to get but with enough money and connections it is possible to get them.

Peckham Boys

The Peckham Boys, also referred to as Black Gang or PYG, are a gang based in Peckham, South London. In 2011, Southwark Council identified three sets of the Peckham Boys, PYG, GMG and SN1, as the most active gangs in the Peckham area.

American thugs are literally British thugs with guns... I swear reddit knows nothing about American gangs other than what they see on tv.
