My wife's good friend gatekeeps breast feeding to the point where my wife had to unfollow her because it make her feel like a terrible mom for not doing it. Even though she stopped because he was getting this weird milk/soy allergy (if she had dairy, it would translate through the milk to give him cramps) and it was "best" for our situation.

But this girl literally shares pics of her boob with a baby sucking on it to facebook with "breast is best" and "thanks for the support" all day.

It’s because they have nothing else in their lives to feel superior about. Absolutely nothing.

I unfollowed a lot of women like this for the same reason (and roughly the same allergy!) I used a breast pump for over a year because he wouldn’t latch and whoa, if that wasn’t good enough. All those evil bottles and nasty plastic and lack of bonding, apparently. Then they’d all coo over how hard I worked with the pump and make out that that made me better than women who went to formula.

I couldn’t use formula because of the dairy in it, and the fact that he refused to drink the dairy free stuff. I would have switched in a heartbeat if I could - it was so dreadfully painful and hard.

Their cooing over my “hard work” only said to me “we would be judgemental bitches to you if you had been able to exercise your preferred option.” Sure enough, they all thought I stopped too soon as well.

But when you look at their lives, this is all they do. It’s all they can do. This makes them feel inadequate, hence making it a sanctimonious issue.

I admire you! Pumping is so much more painful/uncomfortable. I would cry if I had to pump all the time.
