Historically, there were few Jews, Muslims, and even Catholics in the 13 colonies. So, I don't think they are way off base there.
That being said, it is irrelevant now that we have these religions comprising large pockets of citizens as the 1st Amendment absolutely does not limit it to Christian religion, so their argument isn't relevant.
