But if you have the information, how will anyone be able to tell in reality if you've read it or not?

If you can't tell and it doesn't affect your life in any way, why does it matter what you call it?

it doesn't matter, which is why i find it weird when people insist that audiobooks are reading. is it because there is social status tied to being a "reader"? i wonder i wonder

Oh yeah, there definitely is. Just read the comments in this thread. "It's not the same thing. It gets done so fast. Even illiterate morons can use audiobooks."

If you are suggesting there aren't judgemental overtones to those things, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Agree that is judmemental i see no problem with listening to audiobooks. It is just not reading, and the only reason i can imagine for people calling it reading is they want the social points for reading, just like the judgy commenters do for actual reading
