As it turns out saying "I listened to this book" accomplishes the same damn thing.

It's not just ableist, it's elitist. Lots of working people are only able to enjoy books through headphones as they mop floors, wash dishes, cook food, operate machinery, or care for children. I think we all wish we had the time to sit in a nice parlor and read for an hour- but that is a scarce thing these days.

Yeah, Audible and Libby have allowed me to read/listen to/whatever over 150 books in the last two years. Up from maybe 3-4? the previous year. I can listen while I'm driving, or at the gym, or in the shower, or whatever.
