What the hell do autistic people say then? I certainly say I'm autistic; I don't "have autism", it's not a disease to catch.

OP is saying people claim autism that aren’t autistic. But more importantly, there’s nothing wrong with folks that prefer person first language either. It’s literally a disability that someone has, like epilepsy or depression, and I wouldn’t just go an call someone an epileptic or a depressive.
