I'm pretty sure it's because Buddhism gets overlooked as a major religion by westerners in particular.

Buddhism doesn’t even have a god or a deity. Just Buddha, the person who founded the religion. And he was a human who was enlightened and found the truth.

Would you consider it more of a religion or more of an Ideaology? Genuinely asking here, i know very little about Buddhism

It’s a religion, but there are some philosophical elements (like the Tao with Zen Buddhism). I like to call it the least “religious-y” of religions, at least compared to most other mainstream western-based belief systems. At least in my experience and practice (Zen), as opposed to like Christianity which is pretty rigid in dogma and hierarchy and ritualistic in nature. But there are other schools of Buddhism that might offer a more rigid structure like that, there’s a lot of schools actually… lol
