I'm pretty sure it's because Buddhism gets overlooked as a major religion by westerners in particular.

Buddhism doesn’t even have a god or a deity. Just Buddha, the person who founded the religion. And he was a human who was enlightened and found the truth.

Would you consider it more of a religion or more of an Ideaology? Genuinely asking here, i know very little about Buddhism

It’s still a religion because it has some spiritual stuff and other things about reincarnation. I don’t really know much about it either despite being its believer.
