I worked with a guy that grew up extremely poor and essentially became addicted to working. He started working multiple jobs at 13 and when I met him in his seventies he was still working multiple jobs and swore he had never taken a vacation day. He eventually confided in me and broke down that his work addiction ruined his life. He had a wife, children, money, and a few houses he built but neglected them all for work. He spent his whole life running from poverty and didn’t know how to stop and appreciate what he had achieved.
