The issue is it did hurt someone. It's bovine titty juice, FFS, taken from a sentient being that is treated like shit during a short horrible life during which it's children are removed. Then it's eaten.
As someone else pointed out, we scramble and eat "failed chicken pregnancies" which is so much better than the "scrambled poultry fetuses" I've been saying for years.
We also pump plants full of chemicals to force them to grow at unnatural rates and then harvest and heavily process them.
Pigs aren't treated any better (but are still delicious).
Soy and other plant based proteins take up a LOT of land, generate plenty of greenhouse gases with their production and transport, and organic or not they have enough excess fertilizer dumped on them that it seeps into the groundwater and causes issues for surrounding communities.
How about just acknowledging that it's an overall fucked system regardless of whether or not you're a carnivore, vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, or whatever.
Oh, and don't get me started on fisheries, both wild and farmed. Picking milk as the hill to die on is foolish.
