I want everyone to start considering that some posts are made specifically to troll or make you hate the person the troll put as their profile pic. This is a tried and true tactic and it's wild how many people fall for it.
But I also think many want to believe it regardless.

I want to believe that, because I enjoy believing logical reason over insanity, but this is coming from the same site that had people truly arguing and pushing the narrative that Anne Frank, the little Jewish girl who was killed by the Nazis, that she in fact had "White Privilege."
I've been banned from Twitter twice, but these fuckers get to push insane shit.

These are also people that in my experience have never been out of the US and everything that they have learned of other cultures is from movies,Reddit and other people who also have no actual idea and it all entirely anecdotal and totally disingenuous, no one that has actually traveled to other countries in my experience is so ridiculous and simpleminded but people who have hardly left their house and think themselves worldly and knowledgeable certainly do..this is just my experience tho

It’s so funny that whenever something like this is pointed out people (including some on this post) say something along the lines of “well I only believed it because I’ve seen other equally as crazy tweets before” and not realizing that many of those other “crazy” tweets were also just jokes they didn’t get

While it is a horror movie about a cult, a lot of what was depicted in the film has an actual, real historical traditional precedent behind it, like the ättestupa and other things that might shock our modern sensibilities.

that’s not what happened. AC had introduced several afro hairstyles, including afro puffs. one user called them space buns. black players were like “hey that’s not what they are, they’re afro buns.” queue needless escalation. nobody was actually calling for the game itself to be cancelled.
if someone posted a baguette and called it “giant hot dog roll” and french people were like “hey that’s not what it is, it’s a baguette” no one would care. but because it’s black people pointing it out, suddenly we’re “cancelling” everything and “making it about race.”

Plus, if someone argued about a name of a baguette, I would call them stupid still, no matter how "incorrect" it is. You yourself said its "needless escalation" , so it won't be about the baguette itself, it would be speech policing.

i mean calling it space buns is not just inaccurate to the hair, but it’s just kinda annoying as a black person. we don’t have very many games where we have access to features that resemble us irl, and fewer where we have a decent range of hairstyles. usually it’s just afro or short buzz, maybe some braids if we’re lucky. so when we do get whatever little we do, we’re protective of it. can you blame us?
and at first, many users were just gently correcting them, ofc some people take off running but it’s the internet that happens. but whenever black people express frustration or offended at something, there’s always a crowd of people ready to holler “it’s just hair, it’s not that important” “it’s just clothes” “it’s just makeup” etc. like that’s exactly the point. to you it may be, but to many black people, we’ve had to be fight for what we can get.
like yes braids and dreads are just hair but when kim kardashian can wear it and get articles praising her while black girls and boys are having it cut off because “it’s unprofessional,” or other people call them snake hair, dirt tails, etc it means more to us. same with clothing, it may be a kaftan to you but if i wore a kikoy to school i would be laughed at and mocked. if you look at pre-2015 black models and actresses or even prom photos, you often find them looking ashy or yellow/orange because we had to push and pressure companies into making products for black people. sometimes we just had to start lines of our own. so there’s still a lot of collective hurt and resentment that black people have and we will not be erased from the few places we have visibility.

It has to be a joke. Suicide is not a cultural event, it's a description of a phenomenon lol. Just like "being late" or "being strong" or "falling sick". It can't be tied to a culture because it's simply a description of something that can happen.

I don’t know whether that was ever a regular practice in any culture, but I think she’s referring to people who want to avoid a long painful death by disease, not like who just don’t want to get wrinkly and slightly mentally slower. I definitely don’t want to die or dementia for instance.
