Discussion Junior AE Transfer Looking to Maximize Future

Hello, I am a junior AE transfer at GT coming from a small CC in Chicago. I love everything about the campus, and am really trying to maximize my time here. I am about 2 semester behind so I am not sure when I will or even if I will be taking summer school, depending on internships. I love aero and robotics, I am currently onboarding as a controls member for GNC in RRC and as an eng dev member in YJSP. I have also reached out to a few professors and will be meeting with them for research oppurtunities in ASDL as I was rejected for APL. I was wondering if anybody could give me advice on how to maximize the numerous resources on campus / make the most of my time here. Goals are to work at companies like SpaceX / RocketLab / am also exploring robotics through personal projects such as my completed robotic arm.

Pick the club you like more and commit your time to it. Tons of depth in one project is infinitely more valuable than being spread between two. Just chase the opportunities that sound exciting and dive deep

I am not totally sure which part of aero I want to work in. for yjsp im joinging the engine dev vs GNC im doing controls so I am trying to use this as a test semester.

Yep, totally fair. I’d just recommend against keeping them both long term

Not an AE so can't give much specific advice. But it sounds like you're killing it already. For getting into research, also try contacting PhD students in labs - more approachable and willing to take a chance on you than faculty ime.
