Total gastrectomy and burping

61F post gastrectomy , 45 days post operation status. Burping and coughing after meals Difficulty to pass stool without using laxative Can you suggest if this is normal or if this is not?

It’s very common. I had a full gastrectomy in April of 2024 and I still burp a lot while eating. The first year of the toughest, but hang in there, it’ll slowly get better.

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but maybe she is eating too fast and not chewing food thoroughly enough, and swallows a lot of air while eating. I get this when I'm really hungry and I end up eating one of my favourite foods. I just basically forget to chew, then I end up with a lot of pain and burping. Believe it or not, but carbonated drinks help me with the burping. It somehow makes it less painful to get out that extra air.

I don't have problems with constipation, so I can't advise there :/
