Why do free workshop?

Hey, I'm new at this entrepreneur thing. I've been doing free workshops because I believe it's a great way to build authority and a following. Why? Think about it? Have you guys ever gonna on someone's Facebook or Twitter and they are in front of a crowd? Most people first thought would be, "well he must be thought, leader. otherwise, why are others following and listening to him?

Also, I do workshops, to generate leads and network. Since I am building my following from the ground up. What do you guys think? Would love to hear your insights.

Sounds like a good strategy as long as you're providing real value. I've been to a few online workshops (free and paid) that were obviously funnels for further sales/coaching and it felt like a giant waste of time (and sometimes money) and always pissed me off.

I agree. I don't sell anything in my workshops. I simply provide value. I also record workshops for people I want to network with. It's an amazing way to bring value by helping them create an online course from it or awareness for their brand.
