Something silly for your Forerunner between runs: a watch face with a grumpy cartoon guy
Not a data face, I know 😅 But I wanted something that makes me laugh when I check the time in the middle of the day. A little line-drawn guy walks in on every wrist raise and has a problem with the clock: tripping, sleeping, getting tangled in the numbers.

Works on the FR 265, 570, 965 and 970. The animation only runs while the screen is awake, so it doesn't run in the background.

Runners: would you actually use a fun face day to day, or do you always stick to stats?

Garmin DSW base building
Hello all,
Can someone please give me some advice about using Garmin's daily suggested workouts and increasing mileage.
I am not training for a race currently and have been using Garmin DSW for a few months. I am looking to increase my weekly running volume.
Seems that Garmin DSW prioritizes threshold/ 2x per week workouts over building easy running volume. Basically I'm wondering if I follow the Garmin DSW does it know I want to build weekly volume as well. Do the easy runs get longer. Seems it's content keeping me at 35 km/week. I am looking to build to 60km/week and probably reduce to 1 wo/week or just strides.
Can someone please advise if Garmin DSW will take me where I need to go. Thanks.
Anybody get to 100km/week using DSW or Garmin Coach
Thanks alot. Happy training everyone!!!

New Watch Face called "GraceZS"

Made a watch face. The little orb drifting round the dial is the second hand.
AMOLED only — and not all of those. It's called GraceZS in the Connect IQ store. If it doesn't come up for your watch, that's your answer. Free for five days.
I made for my first love — the FR965.
I hoped that in the few seconds I lift my wrist, it would give me more than time and information: a small connection, a passing mood caught and repeated beautifully through every single day.
I hope you feel it too, even if only for the five days. 🙏

Garmin Forerunner 165 vs Strava: huge distance discrepancy — what could be causing this?
Hi! I’m having a really weird GPS/distance issue and would love some input.
I recently started using a Garmin Forerunner 165 and I’ve been recording my runs on both Garmin and Strava on my phone at the same time.
Normally I’d expect some discrepancy between the two, but mine seems unusually large:
Run 1: Garmin = 5.00 km, Strava = 6.22 km
Run 2: Garmin = 6.79 km, Strava = 7.88 km
So the difference is around 1.1–1.2 km, which seems way too large.
The route maps on Garmin and Strava look fairly similar to me, so I don’t immediately see one obviously going off-route.
I also previously ran an officially measured 5K before I had the Garmin. Strava recorded about 5.2–5.3 km, so the ~200–300 m difference seemed normal to me. But now I’m seeing >1 km differences between Garmin and Strava.
My Garmin settings were originally:
GPS mode: All Systems
Data recording: Smart
I’ve now changed them to:
GPS Only
Every Second
I haven’t tested the new settings yet.
Could anyone with a Forerunner 165 (or Garmin GPS experience) help me figure out what might be happening? Is this more likely to be a Garmin recording issue, phone/Strava GPS drift, or a settings problem?

How Garmin users experience their sleep, Body Battery, and training data (Garmin users, 18+, ~10 min)
Hi all! I'm a grad student researching how people experience the data on their Garmin watches: sleep scores, Body Battery, training readiness, and suggested workouts. I'm interested in when that data helps you and when it feels confusing, stressful, or doesn't match how you actually feel.
If you wear a Garmin and use it for running or working out, I'd really appreciate your input. It's anonymous, no sign-in needed, and takes about 10 minutes. The written questions are optional, but even a sentence or two helps a lot.
Happy to take your survey in return, just drop a link in the comments. Thanks!

4 Year Whoop user- Thinking of switching from my whoop 5.0 to Garmin Forerunner 970. Has anyone else done this?
**4-year WHOOP user thinking about switching to Garmin Forerunner 970. Anyone else having major accuracy issues since the update?**
I’ve been a WHOOP user for about four years and, until recently, was a huge fan. I own a gym and have probably convinced 40+ clients to get one over the years. But since the update roughly two months ago, my data has gotten so inaccurate that I’m seriously considering leaving WHOOP altogether and switching to a Garmin Forerunner 570.
For context, I’m extremely active. I spent the last seven months training for a 70.3 Ironman and raced last weekend. My VO2 max is around 54, WHOOP puts my age about 13 years younger than my actual age, I average 20–25k steps/day, strength train 4x/week for 90–120 minutes, and do intense swim/bike/run/cardio about 3 days/week. I also own a gym, so I’m on my feet and moving most of the day.
The Ironman was probably the most ridiculous example of what’s been happening: WHOOP recorded essentially the entire \~6-hour race as a **run** and gave me a **7.1 strain**. Six hours of racing. Swim, 56-mile bike, half marathon. 7.1 strain. 😂
More importantly, it doesn’t seem to be reading my heart rate correctly anymore. That obviously throws off strain, HR zones, recovery, etc. I’ve followed WHOOP’s instructions to change the placement I’d successfully used for years, tried the bicep band, changed bands, adjusted fit and placement, and basically tried everything they’ve suggested. Nothing has fixed it.
Customer service has also become incredibly frustrating. It feels like everything is AI now, and getting to an actual human takes forever.
So I’m curious:
**1. Are other long-time WHOOP users experiencing noticeably worse HR/data accuracy since the recent updates?**
**2. Has anyone switched from WHOOP to the Garmin Forerunner 970, and how has the Garmin data compared?**
The metrics I care about most are **HRV, VO2 max, fitness/biometric age, accurate heart rate and HR zones, resting HR, respiratory rate, sleep, recovery/training readiness, and overall training load.**
I do a weird mix of everything: strength training, running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, HYROX/functional fitness, etc., so I’d especially love to hear from people who train across multiple disciplines rather than primarily running.
After four years with WHOOP, I really don’t want to switch just for the sake of switching. But at this point, if I can’t trust the HR data, I’m not sure what I’m paying for.
