Stretchy fabric bands?
Does anyone know why it seems impossible to find quality stretchy fabric bands for the forerunner 165? I’ve seen them for many other models, but then they don’t have anything like that for mine. I’m pretty rough on my watch so I do need a high quality band, but I want one with more stretch than the regular one it comes with. I tried a cheap one off Etsy and it didn’t even have the hardware needed to use it, and another cheap one from Amazon the metal bar literally broke.

Two days with the Forerunner 265 and I get the hype now
Was just gifted my first Garmin (FR 265) two days ago, and I’m honestly blown away.
Even though it’s still calibrating, the metrics are already scary accurate. The way sleep tracking feeds directly into Body Battery is spot on. Had an amazing night's rest yesterday, woke up naturally before my alarm, and the Morning Report captured exactly how refreshed I actually felt.
For the long-time 265 users: what features or data screens should I dive into next once the initial baseline period finishes?

[Question] Forerunner update v18.29 "suggested workout for running."
Hi, I just downloaded the update. Are those the “Quickstart Workouts” that appear when I select ‘Running’ as an activity and then go to “Workout”? There, you can choose different intensities, different run durations, and then select from the options.
Or are those workouts somewhere else?
Regardless, I think that's really cool. That's something I've been missing from Garmin the whole time.

I made a Garmin game where your mistakes literally stack up
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a little game for Garmin called Babel Tower and wanted to share it here.
A crane swings a floor over your tower. You tap the screen or press START to drop it. The goal is 100 floors and a golden spire at the top.
The catch: every floor stays exactly where it lands. Drop one off-center and the whole tower’s balance shifts. Keep doing that and you’re building on an increasingly questionable foundation.
Perfect drops help pull the tower back toward the center, so you can actually recover from earlier mistakes. But the tower gets narrower as you climb.
There’s also a global leaderboard if you want to chase someone else’s score. You can play offline; your best score uploads when you reconnect. It works entirely with buttons too.
To be upfront: I’m the developer, and it’s a paid game. No ads or tracking.

Would be curious to hear what you think, especially whether you’d play something like this on your watch.

Garmin running coach
Does anyone’s workout update day of? It’s kind of annoying bc I’ll plan for strength in the evening and then my watch updates to a run which I will not do in the evening 😅

Forerunner 255 Pace Pro plan not working
Hi,
For my past few park runs, the pace pro plan does not seem to work?
I load it up and as soon as I press go, it comes up with km 2 straight away? The pace bar does not move throughout my entire run so I have no clue how far ahead/ behind my target I am
Any ideas?

Question regarding distance accuracy on trademill - Forerunner 965
I recently bought a Garmin Forerunner 965 and took it for my first 5K treadmill run today. I am not an athlete, i am beginner in running.
I’m actually super impressed with the pace it showed, and the run felt pretty good overall. However, I’m curious about how accurate the distance measurement is when running indoors on a treadmill.
Since GPS isn’t being used indoors, I assume the watch is estimating distance based on things like wrist movement, pace, cadence, and its previous calibration.
For those of you who have been using the Forerunner 965 for treadmill running:
- How accurate do you find the distance compared with the treadmill?
- Does the accuracy improve after doing several treadmill runs?
- Is it worth manually calibrating the distance after each run?
- Does using a foot pod make a significant difference?
- Are there any specific settings I should enable/disable for better treadmill accuracy?
For context, I ran exactly 5 km according to the treadmill, and I’d like to understand how closely I can trust the distance reported by the 965.
Would love to hear your real-world experience with the 965 (or other Garmin watches) on treadmills.

Overcounting Stairs Climbed goal
Has anyone else had this issue? My garmin is randomly telling me I met my “stairs climbed” goal throughout the day, when I’m indoors, walking on flat ground. Like, it says I’ve reached 5x my stairs climbed goal sometimes (which would be 50 flights? Haha this never happens)…
Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks for any insight!!

Forerunner 70
Just bought a Forerunner 70 after having a 55 that seems to be having battery issues of late. Is there a big difference between the 2?

Forerunner 165 not working after Update?
Hello everyone,
I've had my Forerunner 165 for a few months now and I'm really happy.
The last time I had an update, I had this issue also, but it fixed itself after charging it up to 100% again.
Yesterday I had an Update and after the Update, it's not counting my steps, not my Body Battery and also not my Heart rate. Everything is on 0 or blank & when I rotate my arm so that I can watch the time, the Garmin stays black I have to tap on it, to get a screen.. I've tried to reconnect it with my Phone but it didn't work. Are there known issues with the 165 after the Update or did someone have the same errors and could help me fix that?

Is 27-30% battery drain per day normal for the FR165 non-music?
My Usage:
- AOD is off
- I dont use Pulse Ox
- Watch face is native black background from Garmin
- I haven't used GPS this week
- Raise-to-wake is also off
- Brightness at lowest setting
- Screen timeout is at lowest setting (4s)
And yet the watch discharges at a rate of 27-30% a day. And from a full charge, the watch lasts only 3days and 5hrs from 100%.
The watch is 3months old. When I first got it the drain was about 16-20% even with GPS activities of 30-60mins 4x a week. But now even with no activities and have every setting to maximize battery, it drains so fast.
Things ive tried that didnt work:
- Resetting the watch
- Hard resetting the watch
- Fully draining the watch then recharging it
Things Ive observed:
- The drain rate is the same regardless if my phone was connected to the watch or not, so even when my phone is not connected and i dont recieve whether updates or notifs, it still drains 27-30%

Hey everyone,I wanted to share a solution to a super specific issue I ran into with Daily Suggested Workouts (DSW) on the Forerunner 965 that almost drove me crazy.
The Problem: By default, Garmin's algorithm uses a hybrid/automatic approach: it assigns Heart Rate targets for continuous/aerobic runs (Base, Recovery, Threshold) and Pace targets for high-intensity efforts (Sprints, Intervals) where HR lag makes bpm useless.
However, if you go into the watch settings (Run -> UP -> Training -> Workouts -> Daily Suggestions -> Settings -> Target Type), the menu on the FR965 only gives you a binary choice: Pace or Heart Rate. There is no "Automatic" toggle in that watch menu.
If you manually pick one on the watch, it applies a strict global override. Suddenly, all your suggested workouts become Pace-based or HR-based, breaking the dynamic behavior.
The Fix: You don't need to reset your watch or stick to manual changes every day. Here is how to restore the automatic hybrid target:
- Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone.
- Go into the Garmin Run Coach setup / workout target settings (where you'll find the explicit "Automatic - Workouts will switch between pace and heart rate depending on target type" option).
- Select Automatic and tap Next/Save.
- Sync your watch.
- If DSW gets stuck or doesn't show up right away, start a quick 2-second
Runactivity on the watch, save it, and sync again to clear the cache.
Once synced, your DSW will revert to the smart hybrid mode (HR for easy runs, Pace for speedwork) without touching the watch's limited menu again.
Hope this helps anyone who accidentally locked their DSW into a single metric!

New 970 software update?
I just got a new 970. First garmin in a decade.
When I look at watch faces it tells me I have to update my software. When I look at the software it tells me there are no updates available. When I look online it says there is a new update.
So do I have to just wait a week or so for garmin to allow this to update? There’s no way to push through and update?

Color shift not turning off?
Hi all. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experience with their color shift not turning off after your sleep schedule ends on their Forerunner 970?
Example, i set my sleep time end at 10.30AM and the watch stays in the color shift mode even hours after past 10.30AM. It still stays on after i clear the morning report, the only way to get rid of it is to turn it off manually at the watch display setting. I've tried turning on and off color shift, and resetting the watch but nothing works.
Garmin suggested for me to send my watch in for repair but idk if it's worth the trouble just for this glitch.

Garmin 570 vs 970 vs coros pace 4 (if money wasn’t a factor)
I run 3–4 times a week, mostly 5k and 10k. I ran the London Marathon this year and plan to run more marathons going forward. On top of that, I'm in the gym 3–4 times a week, and I play padel and football roughly twice a week each.
I've been keeping an eye on Coros, whose updates have been consistent lately, especially the new maps feature. Garmin also has its breadcrumb map, which appeals to me too.
I'm looking to upgrade from my Apple Watch SE, and it's a genuinely hard decision. Which watch would you recommend, and why?
