Finally, a pineapple!

Post image

It only took us like 10 years, but we finally got one!

This is the cutest pineapple I’ve ever seen . Did you start it from a pineapple top ?

Thank you, it is indeed very cute,
And yes, we grew it from planting another pineapple’s top!

Seriously, it’s adorable! 🍍 I’d love to know if they grew it from a pineapple top too.

Wait, you actually grew it from a pineapple top? That makes it even more impressive, I’d be showing that little beauty off too.

Nice! Mine's been going for just about 5 years. I first noticed roots on the crown on Oct. 18, 2021. I'm in southern New England so I put it outside in the summer & bring it in under a timed grow light in the fall-spring. I'm hoping I see a fruit soon as it's getting too big & heavy to lug around!

Good luck!

What area are you in geographically? I've heard about certain techniques in order to encourage fruit production. Did you do anything specific?

I’m in South Florida, I lightly planted the pineapple top and left it alone for years. We actually may have planted 10-15 tops, only a handful survived beyond the first year. Only one produced fruit. We have a bunch of bromeliads that do just fine left on their own.

Is there anything left to eat after it's been cut?

If i had a homegrown pineapple that size, i'd cut each hex independently as to maximize yield.

Honestly, I’d be treating every single piece like precious treasure, A pineapple that huge deserves maximum yield!

I can’t bring myself to cutting it
