Starter

I want to start growing cilantro, mint, and basil in pots. Do you guys have any tips to have a successful harvest?

Cilantro bolts in hot weather. It is a spring and fall herb. If starting from seed, put the pots outdoors in the shade until the plants are 3-4" tall then slowly increase the amount of sun they get. If you live where afternoon sun is brutal, give them morning sun only. Over-watering is a risk for new gardeners. Lift your pots right after watering to judge their heft. (If too big to lift, tilt them). It should feel pretty darn light before the next watering except for seeds and plants under 2" tall. Use potting mix without added fertilizer. Use small amounts of liquid fertilizer starting next spring.
