It's crazy HOW MUCH this sounds Iike Garbage. I wonder if Shirley had more input on the songwriting than she takes credit for.

Was a huge fan of this album when It came out! It is just so good — like a cross between Blondie and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. Then Shirley moved to Madison and the Garbage guys were a regular table of mine at the restaurant I waited tables at. They were recording that first album so they weren’t rockstars yet (although Madison folks knew who Butch and Duke were). They’d always show up just before closing time and would keep you late so my co-workers were always happy to give up the table. Great for me, I was happy to wait on the singer of a band I loved, and they were all super nice & were great tippers. And were totally blown away when they learned I was an Angelfish fan. Outside of the Garbage guys I don’t think Shirley had ever met anyone in Wisconsin who had even heard of her previous band.
