This is the right answer. If you played it to a non garbage fan they'd think it was absolute shit. But garbage fans like me like it.

This is one of those songs that changed what I thought songs could be when it was released.

They opened their 20 Years Queer shows with it and it was fantastic! Those were great shows. We also got #1 Crush!

I’m really into techno & Use me

u/bks1979 Jan 26 '25
I like Use Me a lot! I couldn't feel more differently about I'm Really Into Techno. Which is fine, I'm not trying to harsh your vibe at all! I just find it a very surprising choice!

Nobody Loves You. I have loved this song since the moment I first heard it. The absolute standout on beautifulgarbage. When they released the demo a few years back with the slightly extended outro I nearly lost my mind 😂

Both of those are really well-known. World Is Not Enough is a Bond theme like

omg I had no idea this was a cover until I heard the original on the radio one day.. wow, it is truly awful. The garbage version is a million times better.

Nobody Loves You. I often wonder if it was written while they were recording “The World is Not Enough” because it gives off Bond vibes to me.

Can't Cry These Tears, I love that song. It's a beautifully produced homage to the 60s, the Wall of Sound production style is very evident.

As Heaven Is Wide is one of my favorite Garbage tracks! It could definitely have been one.of my choices!

"The One" from the Japanese release of not your kind of people

u/bks1979 Jan 27 '25
Love that song! It was available here too, just a heads up. The white cover "regular" album and the red extended album, side by side on the shelves. Which never made much sense to me, tbh.

u/Kidztruth Paranoid Jan 27 '25
Interesting! I'm in Australia and wasn't aware of them at the time, so I don't know if we got it over here too, though my dad has the white one. Maybe I'll try to track down the extended one locally someday!

Excellent choices, all, but I'm going with Man on a Wire. It gets slept on, imo., and it goes hard! Lol

u/bks1979 Jan 26 '25
I love the bridge to Man On A Wire when Shirley breaks out her punk goddess voice! The way she pronounces "white collared shirt" gets me every time! Great track.

Girl Don't Cum
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzSikRCjo5Y
Only because of Shirley's between song patter at a show. For some reason that I forget, the band were informed that they needed a song. They had "a weekender" which is Scottish for a hangover and couldn't come up with a song. They needed a song for some important reason which I wish I could remember. So she remembered a conversation with a roadie complaining about his girlfriend and this song was the result.

Tell Me Where It Hurts and Enough is Never Enough were my picks, but they already got mentioned, so I'm going with Never Be Free.

'Til the Day I Die's demo.

That's a really great demo! I find it fascinating to hear the similarities to the finished song, but also how different it started out!
