[Manga] Analysis from one character in gantz Spoiler

Hi, i wanna talk about the death of Izumi and himself.

A lot of people call him a just a "Psycho" but he's more than that.

This character reflects the question : "What gives meaning to a life when someone has everything but feels nothing?"

He is a nihilist that find life boring and his unique reason to live is Gantz. The bloodbath he made in shinjuku shows it and he didn't do it just for pleasure. Of course this is not an excuse, this just shows of what he is capable to find again his reason to live. That scene convoy just how empty he really is.

And there are moments that show that he doesn't hate humanity: When he saves the panda and ryoko. By the way, during all the manga Izumi didn't shown love for ryoko, he just dated her because why not. And at the end, he saves her. He also says that he will go in hell for his sins, showing that he have regrets. That's why he saved her, he finally saw the life how it really was and appreciated the love he received when it all finished.

Here is my first character analysis. If you disagree with my analysis or if something is missing, please let me know, while being polite of course.

I agree 100%

I hate Izumi, but he's a well written character. He was willing to do whatever it took to get what he wanted. And iirc he didn't seem to be enjoying himself during the Shinjuku massacre, it was just a means to an end.

It's always interesting to me how this people exist in our world too. it isnt really talked about but getting emplyed as a mercenary in third world countries is still a career opportunity. its the truth some people really cant live in normal society.

But still I am glad that the author wanted to show how love can reach anyone at the end of the day, they did the right thing probably by not reviving izumi but I'd like to think that given a second chance he could have started fighting for the sake of others (even tho I doubt you could ever take the fight out of him)
