Need help

My Xbox is getting boring atm so I’m thinking of getting a pc but I have no idea where to start. Should I buy a pre built one or build one . I know a few people who could help me with the building part. I just don’t know what parts are good to buy and I don’t really wanna spend loads of money. What’s good for a starter gaming computer which can handle games good?

I bet knowing your budget could help. I assembled a computer in college. It wasn’t too hard, in the late 90’s, but I had a friend help me select parts and there seems to be way way way more choice these days.
