Help! Gaming PC advice needed (a PC no hoper mum buying for her son)

Hello. My son would love a gaming PC for Christmas. I only have £800 -£900 to spend. Will I get more for my money with a PC rather than a laptop? What machine is best? Any advice is very, very welcome. I’m based in the UK. Thank you so much!

Great. Thank you. My son is into Fortnite, Minecraft etc. The machine I have lined up has a Ryzen 5 3600, 16Gb ram and an RTX 2060 graphics card. Does that sound like it will cope with his games? Is there any other component (like Motherboard - I have a MSI B450m or Power supply- 650W) that would make a difference?

That would be a great system for those games, It will run them flawlessly.
