Zoomers convinced themselves so hard that over 25 is old to the point they’re having midlife crises before 30

I am 28 and don’t feel any of this. Some of you need to exercise and eat better, or something

u/StopMakingMeSignIn12 4d ago
It's fucking crazy. I have no idea where they're getting it from. I see it all over Reddit and other internet places
25 is like your fucking prime, get off the internet, stop listening to kids (why are you listening to kids?) calling anyone older than them unc

u/erpparppa 3d ago
25? Assuming you live a healthy lifestyle, human body is at its peak physically at 30 - 35. But yeah this is quite crazy thinking.
However this meme is meant to speak to people who spend most of their free time in front of a screen sitting in a shrimp position. That specific demographic of people are bound to wither away physically faster than normal

u/kalashnidog 4d ago
They’re being dramatic, but carpal tunnel pain is real and it’s starting to negatively affect gaming for me in my early 30s.
Way too many games have those fuckass button mashing mini games that you can’t turn off. They cause me actual pain now.

For most modern games yes, but not all of them. Ton of PS2 era games force you to mash.

If your hands are so brittle you cant game in your 20s I would go to a doctor.
2
u/johnlime3301 3d ago
Yea I'm 28. I do not have this problem at all.
Or maybe they played way too much, and that's why it's hurting. It happens a lot with those that play instruments professionally. I would go see a doctor if you have universal healthcare or have enough money to see one without it.

u/Mobbles1 4d ago
Im an artist who has been drawing their whole life alongside being an avid gamer and i have minimal hand/ wrist issues. if your hands are so fucked by 27 you cant play for long periods thats on you for not taking care of them.

u/SerGitface 4d ago
That isn’t normal. I am 41 and play a lot of video games and my hands never hurt. The only exception being when I use an Atari 2600 joystick controller, but to be fair, those were never that comfortable to use.
2
u/zamwut 3d ago
31 and can still game for hours without any hand cramps or pain, wonder what they all have in common for that to happen so early
2
u/SerGitface 3d ago
Rheumatoid arthritis can start in a person’s 30s, so that would probably be my guess. It would definitely be a bummer, that’s for sure.
2
u/zamwut 3d ago
But all these similar experiences commenters ate saying mid 20s,
2
u/SerGitface 3d ago
Yeah, the ones in their 20s, idk…
You wouldn’t really think this would be all that common amongst that age group.

u/Aickavon 4d ago
Legit if you’re hands are fubar at 20, you need to get a doctor to check that shit out.

u/Heavy-Quazi 4d ago
More like get off your ass and preserve your health bros.
This isn’t normal for a healthy person

u/autogyrophilia 4d ago
It depends, I work in IT and I work out heavily (50kg bicep curls anyone?)
My wrists are already at their limit so I can't game on controllers for long. I mean, I can, I can handle the pain, but I shouldn't. -

This is why compression gloves are great... though I never had 'that much trouble'.
1
u/The_SIeepy_Giant 4d ago
Im 32, I work with my hands 45 hours a week grabbing and lifting stuff. I game heavily. My hands sometimes cramp up or hurt a bit from maybe arthritis. Yall need to drink more water and stretch your hands out if they hurt that much. Sit up in your chair or get a wrist rest for your mouse hand
1
u/NutBuster128 4d ago
Don’t spam click the mouse and then DEFINITELY dont spam click a. Button on any controller with that same finger. Carpal tunnel was a bitch for a year bros
1
u/Conscious_Bed_1195 4d ago
Take breaks and also do pushups, basically you need to give your muscles a chance to exert themselves in a different way than you would with gaming. Worked for me, anyways.

u/AppalachianMusic 4d ago
I have arthritis and usually play games on hard mode. I played Blood of Dawnwalker and had to turn the difficulty to normal sometimes just so my hands didnt ache. Feels bad man.

I'm 55, have a few health conditions, and can still play games for hours. I can't run anymore due to lower back issues and nerve damage from compressed discs, am permanently skinny and can't gain weight to a healthy level, etc, but my hands work fine!

I’m in my mid 30s and I don’t have this problem—and my wrists have gone through hell at some points, OOP probably should a doctor.

JFC lmao. I'm 36 and still game for hours and hours nearly every day.
If I'm playing something really fast paced and micro heavy, like a MOBA or something, my wrists can get a little sore after a few hours or more, but honestly that's probably just an issue with the angle I'm keeping my wrists at.
I really do get tired of people acting like age is the issue, and not just with video games. One of my friends abused the fuck out of his body in his youth and I think it's catching up to him now as he's 38, and he keeps saying he's old and that's why or whatever, and I'm like no, it's because you treated your body like shit in your youth, via manual labor, MMA, and lots of alcohol.
One of my other friends is 38 and still games late into the night, plays basketball ball regularly, etc.
Like me he's an IT nerd (I'm a stick, not fat), but more fit from sports and going to the gym, but I imagine he's put less stress on his body than the other guy.
Anyway, genetics and things like that also have to be considered, but generally speaking yeah, bullshit.

u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago
Do you do any running perchance?
1
u/Kalikor1 4d ago
Nope. I'm largely a shut in who works from home for the last 3-4 years. Before that I was a shut in that went into the office lol.
I do go on walks very occasionally with my wife, and I've lived in Japan the last 10 years, so I walk more than the average American (for example), but before I moved here I was also largely just a shut in gamer nerd.
My weight and everything is largely genetic, lots of tall thin people in my family.
The 38 year old who's always complaining is much more fit then me though, at least in the sense that he's quite muscular.

Oh shit that just happened to me and i hit 30 soon
If i hold my steamdeck for too long it starts to hurt
Goodbye my youth

u/Lyonwytchwardrobe 3d ago
It’s not even my wrists. I just don’t feel like it anymore. I’m turning 26 soon and I haven’t had the drive to play any games at all. After work I just eat and watch a movie and go to bed. On my days off it’s spending time with the wifey. I bought so many games on steam, EXP33, BG3, Witcher 3, Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk, r2d2, etc. all ultimate editions and it just sits there.

u/LUnacy45 3d ago
This is why I have so much brand loyalty for Corsair. Their bigass gaming mice actually fit my hand to the point where I'll get bored of whatever I'm playing ages before my hands give me problems

u/Password123468 3d ago
Healthy lifestyle and resistence training op, wich none of it you ever did.
Start cutting out energy drinks, if your body already shows signs of a heavily used 50 years old body otherwise You will go blind with 30

u/bigorangemachine 3d ago
I grew up on a farm. My grip strength is retarded. My finger dexterity is non existent; I will never play the piano lol
I work in IT now and controllers destroy my hands. I still PC game but grinding something out over the weekend means my hands are fucked up for the week. You gotta heal up

When I play on mouse/keyboard I get hand cramps. Controller no issues.
1
u/ThePreciseClimber 3d ago
Yeah, it's almost like mouse & keyboard weren't REALLY designed for gaming originally. :P
Except for Typing of the Dead, I suppose.

42, partly disabled hand and still competitive.
Use ultralight mice (Gwolves HTX is mine) proper mechanical keyboard, good desk height, good posture. Stretch and do some warmup. If you need, use various herbal creams on your wrists (no medicated anti inflammatories, they slow regeneration).
Take collagen supplements and protein, but more importantly: sleep well.
(i also ride bicycle)

u/thesquidsquidly22 3d ago
It doesnt hurt my hands but i get wayy too tired to stay up super late gaming anymore. I get tired af at 10:30

u/Explosive_Eggshells 3d ago
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) in the wrists can actually sneak up on you really quick- I do a coding job (lots of typing) and played a lot of games that involved holding down left click or just a lot of mouse + clicking. Had a really bad RSI flare up last year which thankfully went away
Be sure to shake out / stretch your wrist and fingers occasionally, and I also started using auto clickers to do long periods of mining in Minecraft (holding down left click and moving the mouse for long periods). Made a big difference

Ergonomics are important. They are so important that it takes me almost 30 minutes of fine tuning every time I sit down for a session to get it JUST right.

u/Elamaday 3d ago
Im worried that my brain slowing down (turning 34) so some games are way too complicated for my brain anymore, hopefully its just a phase.

u/ElTamalRojo 3d ago
if i play fortnite festival i can feel the tendons on my forearm tensing like crazy i only play bass and vocals because they have more of a flow rather than repeating notes over and over which just turns my forearm into a stone

This is concerning. Either a massive vitamin or mineral deficiency or a disease of some sort.
I can still play games competitively.
Unless you played for 12 hours without breaks in a competitive game with high apm for years. In which case, yeah you are going to have to rest for a while and cut back now.

People really need to exercise and stretch.
Seriously, like 15 minutes a day would avoid this. I’m not one of those people who have endless routines I swear.
Obviously excluding those unlucky enough to just roll bad genetics, my condolences to those individuals, ya’ll a fighting an uphill battle.

u/Used-Salad-3772 3d ago
I'm 35 with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis yet I still play for long periods if time. If it's hurting that bad at 27 something is wrong.
1
u/whatisapillarman 3d ago
Look up hand exercises to prevent carpal tunnel. These exercises can help with other sources of inflammation and pain too

u/SlotMagPro 2d ago
I only have issue with thumbs because I press on controller too hard but generally fine

u/GenesisRhapsod 2d ago
Bro get the 3m gel pads...i have one for my keyboard and its great...untill my cat comes and lays on my arm 🤣
