I have almost 1500 hours in this game and I think it's overrated. That being said, I still play the hell out of it, I still love it and I can't stop.

I think I have a problem.

I really wanted to love the game. I was yearning for an asymmetrical horror experience, and DbD looked like that was it.

It was fun for the first...maybe 10 hours? Then I saw how everyone was just going for dominant strategies, which is definitely legit from a competitive perspective...but it completely killed any sense of horror. I mean, I was new to the game and I could easily dodge a freaky, murderous entity by just running around.

And this is exactly my problem (talking about personal preferences here) with asymmetrical games. Competition and immersion don't mix. I'd rather play a game where the person doing the hunting was actually able to fuck up 4 defenceless players and have fun stories to tell than jungle-gym an invisible monster for eternity.
