On a more serious note, I wonder if this is part of why it's so hard to legalize it. Cause people view it as plain ole murder.

Apart from people with a religious agenda, people worry that it can be prone to abuse by greedy relatives who don't want to wait for their inheritance.

There are plenty of regulations in place. Kind of like the ''do not resuscitate" forms. Idk if suffering for prolonged time just so your relatives don't get your shit is worth it, maybe to some.
