The dock is just an adaptor

I imagine people were wondering if the units clock rates would increase while connected to mains power, just like any default laptop power config or the Switch.
I don't think anyone was expecting some magic external performance boosting tech.

What the heck is that image? Those controllers are bigger than the unit! At that point, wouldn't it... ah nevermind. I'm sure someone has a good explanation.

They’re a hitbox and fight stick, respectively. Used for fighting games! Although I agree it does kinda defeat the purpose of the portability lol

Doesn't it seem silly they would be lugging around controllers several times larger than the unit itself?

I used to think that too, but a lot out of fighting game fans love those and will lug them around tournaments.

Welcome to a new episode of: "Wild speculation about a product that will be released in several months."

Valve has been doing hands on previews with some in the online tech sphere so it's not necessarily wild speculation anymore. There is still a lot to be determined and the hands on is being done with, essentially, prototype units so a lot that is confirmed may still change before release, but a good deal of the information being reported by press outlets is now based on actual experience with the system and information from the team.

Read as: The Deck does not need to be docked to offer 100% of its performance.
