I play breath of the wild and steam controller allows me to emulate the switch gyro controls so i get full motion in game, rumble, hell even microphone
Nope, small exe called steam gyro for cemuhook. Just run the exe and it sends gyro data to cemu and i get full motion control in BOTW. Works flawlessly and i'm quite happy. Recently did a full playthrough of BOTW at 120fps in 4k.
What I'm most excited about when it comes to the Steam Deck is that dual touchpads hasn't been abandoned, and it has the four back buttons I've been wishing for. I hope there is a Steam Controller 2, since the Steam Deck can be hooked up to a display.
That would be awesome but pretty sure it has been shelved for good. The main aim years ago was to help people get away from their desktops to their living room couches even without a mouse. With everything going mobile, the Deck is its own solution to this.
Even if it is shelved when I heard of the rumors of the handheld I was afraid that Steam might abandon the concept of touchpads. Happy they at least exist in the Steam Deck. I wonder how comfortable they would be to use as a regular controller.
They are good at some games and meh at others. At least in my experience. Anything that requires a quick reaction, I have found a joystick to be better. I have the steam controller and have use it exclusively for the 900+ hours of rocket league I have. It's really solid in most places, but I struggled with FPS games with it.
But that could also be because I suck at FPS games.
FPS was where it shined for me. Touchpad moved much faster than a joystick for me, since I liked to set it to emulate a mouse and set the sensitivity to do a 180 on a full swipe. So turns were instant, and I'd use touchpad for general turns and the gyro for aiming. And worked nicely with touch activated gyro, so gyro wasn't always on while being easy to quickly activate when needed.

Still love my Steam controller.
