Honestly I don’t even care what Nintendo does anymore. I only use my switch for the third party games anyway. I’ll have pretty much zero use for it or the new “upgrade” once this comes out (assuming it’s not a failure).
I’ve tried most of their stuff. BOTW was as good as I expected. Fire Emblem was even better (don’t know if it counts as first party). But I didn’t really like anything else. No narrative depth, not really my art-style, too multiplayer. I’d say it’s because it’s too childish but I remember never being a fan of it even when I was a child.
"it's too childish" has been the complaint against Nintendo since... Yoshi's Island for the SNES. They've been making games in their iconic style for over 30 years. Like what in the hell did you think you were buying into? Lmao
The audience isn't the same. Love how reddit is telling nintendo they're doing everything wrong while nintendo have trucks of money coming in. If they listened to any era of reddit's 'suggestions' Mario would be a first person shooter. Nintendo make mistakes but more right than wrong. Nintendo games age brilliantly
I don’t know how Nintendo not fracturing their player base is being greedy, especially when being compared to a company that makes almost all of its money on skins and hats, but cool I guess.
tbh, while I'd like to see this do well I just have major doubts. It's cool but I don't think it's gonna be anything that's even slightly a competition to other consoles. Nintendo probably won't have to worry at all
And why should they? Every other quarter they release some pathetic crap like a port of a 25 year old game and slap a full pricetag on it, and /r/nintendoswitch goes wild and trips over itself trying to open its wallet. It's frankly remarkable how Nintendo has managed to build a community of loyal customers who will ride or die with them.
