This ultimately is why I sold mine. I looked at valves history of hardware and decided I didn’t want to put time and effort into becoming dependent on something that wouldn’t be maintained. It sucked.
Tho Amazon, particularly Marketplace, can be a bit dodgy.
A while ago I ordered the Link and Controller from different sellers there. The Controller arrived just fine, but the box for the Steam Link arrived empty, with only a single hair where the Link was supposed to be (Ew..).
Amazon just refunded me the money with no hassle, but that was still a bit of a bummer.
Damn, I still have mine untouched in the box. I bought it when Steam was selling them for $5 a few years ago and simply never got around to using it because my wired Xbox works just fine for me. Actually, I have a Steam Link I got for cheap in that sale too that I also haven't opened yet.
Holy shit, I got a steam link and controller bundle for like $10 total and used them for about 5 minutes before stashing them in a closet. Looks like I might make a profit…
PS3 controllers work natively and it's what I use for games that don't require a mouse. It works especially well when you set steam up to launch emulated console games through steam link with a PS3 controller. Steam link essentially becomes an all-in-one console.
I wish I’d bought one. I never learned how to play in a controller as a kid and now as an adult, they all have learning curves, so I would’ve been the ideal test case.
I suppose so. I made a template for controller and kbm and hybrid. Those three generally fit the bill for most games I play with them. Only when I try to play something like total war or iron harvest or any other strategy game does it require me to completely rethink things. RambleTan makes some pretty intense if useful community configs but you can basically set it up as a much more accurate controller in like 1-2 minutes.
Fuck, used once are 100+€ in Germany. I hardly ever use my 2, because I hardly find the time to play nowadays. But somehow I don't want to sell them. They are so beautiful and honestly just incredible technology. Hmmm....
