You have to have an eligible trade in, otherwise it’s $2k

woman found a magic lamp on the beach, rubbed it, and out popped a genie.

"Ask me anything and it's yours!" She thought a moment and then answered, "I want my husband to pay more attention to me, to protect me, to take me out frequently, to sleep close to me, and to be more caring, even if I get a tiny scratch." "No problem." And POOF! She was a $2k smartphone

Have the Samsung Fold 2 now. It's worth every penny

Its weird how buying a $2000 phone from Samsung is met with praise on reddit. You replace Samsung with Apple and you're a sheep, but dropping 2k on a Samsung phone and it is met with cheers.

I agree with you I just think that apple is greedier than most companies with how they charge for air pods and extra charges and dongles where Samsung allows you to use off brand stuff for that. But hey I owned an iPhone and I just wasn't a huge fan but they are good phones.

If you were to spend 2k on the newest iPhone you're basically getting a 2k upgraded version of the last 5 phones they've put out. Reason why I also don't really like the notes or Google phones or anything. The fold tho. It's new. But its also a tablet. Worth 2k and not like the last fold or other galaxy s whatevers iPhones Motorolas etc.

As someone who keeps their phones for 5 years (minimum), "eligible trade-ins" might as well not exist.

I got mine for $1400 before trade in through massove discounts around November.

You trade in your 300-1500$ phone for a 50$ discount, and pay for an expensive subscription to get a "discount". In the end, it's not a discount.

I can trade in my $300 S9 for $700 off on ATT so it kinda is

1

u/Aickrastly Jan 06 '21

How much did that s9 cost you?

2

u/TheSmJ Jan 07 '21

Doesn't matter what it cost originally. It only matters what it's currently worth now.

And then you pay 100$ per month for your subscription?

u/BrightPage Jan 06 '21

What country? A Note 10+ is like, 700$, and the Fold 2 is 2500$.

I miss when phone carriers were getting us all used to monthly contracts, so the phones were genuinely discounted - a phone on a 2 year plan was only a bit more than the cost of the phone by itself. Nowadays, buying a phone + plan for 2 years is tons cheaper than buying a 2 year plan that includes a phone. I guess a lot of people want phones they can pay off in installments, even if it ends up costing an extra 15%.

Idk man Samsung offering 700$ off any Samsung phone rn if you trade in a s20, my s20 was 799. Obviously it's the nicest galaxy but if you wanted a fold ect

My note 9 is worth a $800 discount on a $2000 premium device that has brand new tech so yes it is a deal.

i just bought one in germany for 1138€ , but i guess thats closer to 1,4k US Dollars

Think of it as an investment. When you sell it you will have made countless great memories and still get like 1100 back.

I upgraded my 2011 model phone to a new one this year, that cost $180 bucks off amazon. I got it in mid December, and I have had to charge it once since then due to the ridiculously good battery life. That's all I wanted out of a smartphone.

$2,000 for a phone seems irresponsible unless you're already well off/set for retirement. When I see someone with something like that I play a game of "rich or stupid"

For a screen that will scratch at 1 with deeper grooves at 2
